I live in a house with a couple of other
tenants. Our toilet does not always flush
all the way and occasionally small pieces
of toilet paper or fecal matter wash back
up for the next visitor to see.
On a regular basis however, I notice that
there is chewed, but undisgested lettuce
(or some other leafy green) in the water.
I've heard of corn being undigestable, but
never lettuce. This is the only foodstuff
that I have seen in the toilet.
I was wondering if anyone out there might
know this to be a symptom of something?
One of these guys frequently complains of
"an ulcer" but I doubt he's ever had it
diagnosed. The other recently visited a
country in West Africa and apparently had
intestinal problems while there.

Undigested food makes its way into the
feces b/c generally we don't chew it
enough. Lettuce is high in fiber and is
often not assimilated b/c it moves so
quickly through the bowels that the
stomach didn't have enough time or enzymes
to break it down. No biggie.
But maybe you want to post a sign on the
bathroom? Something like, please flush
twice???
