Q: Weight Gain With Depo

Hello!

Against my better judgement I had the depo injection a couple of months ago because I wanted highly effective contraception due to being on antidepressants. Well, in that time I have put on about half a stone (7lbs) and it just won't shift! I've upped my exercise and am not eating any more than I was before I had the jab but the weight just will not shift. It's making me feel really self conscious.

Am I deluding myself or could it really be down to the depo? I usually lose weight easily when I try to but this is just not shifting.

Anyone else here found they put on weight? I'm waiting for the end of November then I'm getting the coil!

I had but like I've said before I gained weight but I also had just had a baby so I really don't know which one it was from. Sorry I'm not much help. I'm guessing some of it was the shot, some from the baby (I didnt' gain much with either children the most was 24 lbs) and some from getting older (I was 18 when I had my first and 125 lbs). Hope it goes pretty soon! I know it sucks!

Yes it could be the depo. Definitely. Smile I gained 20 lbs on Mirena and I'm still (about a year later) working it off. No children, no change in eating or exercising habits (better if anything), just the birth control.
