I have LOTs of anxiety....i am currently on Cymbalta. I have this horrible fear that i am going to die or have a heart attack....well to make matters worse after having my son 15 months ago i developed high blood pressure. I am currently on 2 blood pressure meds. I am only 27 and i am sooo scared i will have a heart attack or stroke due to the hbp. Anyone think this is just due to stress and anxiety? This is like my WORST nightmare coming true. I have never had any issues with my BP before i had my son. I was in the hospital 2 weeks right before my son was born because of my bp but since then i have been on meds. Any stories or help is appreciated. stressed!

Thanks,

Try to stay calm and not worry so much. It could be due to anxiety or stress. I know whenever I go into the doctor and if im anxious it causes my blood pressure to be higher.Other times when I go to get my blood pressure checked it's alot lower so I do think anxiety plays a factor in high blood pressure. You need to talk to your doctor about it though.

Sometimes at the doc my bp measures at like, 40 points over what it is normally because I'm nervous.

Here's my advice- get your hands on a kit to measure your bp yourself and do it at home when you're calm and relaxed (like just before bed or something) to see if it really is high.

But yes, anxiety can cause high blood pressure. I suggest seeing a psychologist to deal with the anxiety so you don't have to be on the meds for long!
