Is Knowing the Due Date Important?

Last night I realized that the due date
I've been using, the one my doctor gave
me, isn't accurate. I was making a
pregnancy ticker, and using that due date
(Dec. 29th) it said I was 32 weeks and 1
day pregnant. I thought I was 33 weeks, so
I went and counted, and yeap - 40 weeks
from the first day of my last period is
December 23. Should I mention
that my doctors count was off, or does it
not matter?

Nope. March 18. I KNOW that's the right
day because I started the day before my
family flew to Florida for spring break,
and I was miserable on the plane -_-

That does happen some times. I know when
my mom was pregnant with my younger
brother the doctor did the same thing. I
think when she went in for her first
prenatal appointment they went by the size
of the embryo at the time and not by the
date she gave them. It wouldn't hurt
anything to mention it to your doctor, but
he may not change his estimations. It
would be good just to throw it out there
though, so he can be prepared that the
baby may be coming earlier than he
anticipated.
Good luck!

We're about 30 minutes away with no
traffic, but the appointments are always
scheduled for around rush hour, between
8-10 in the morning. So I get up a good 2
hours earlier than the appointment -_-

the ultrasound is a more accurate
depiction of when your due date it. They
can see how far along you are by how big
the baby is. When they go off your period
dates its with a plus or minus of two
weeks. Listen to the doctor.

The doctor I see at my appointments isn't
the one that did my ultrasound though. And
that guy didn't say anything about my due
date.

hmmm
well id go by the ultrasound and not the
last period thing
really thats an estimate of when your due
date is. sperm can live in you for 5 days,
you can get preg on your period. there are
lots of factors that can deal into the
whole last period thing
id go by the ultrasound

Going by my LMP my due date should have
been 4th December, but the early
ultrasound proved my due date to be a week
later, the 11th. My doctor said that
because there was only a week in it, they
usually take the LMP due date because it
wouldn't have made much difference. When I
gave birth on 19th November, I was classed
as full term because I was in my 37th week
of pregnancy... although I could have
actually been in my 36th. Confusing.. but
my daughter wasn't growing properly anyway
so I'll never know which it was.
If there's only 6 days between your due
dates, it's not desperately important..
but just go with what your doctor says.
