Gf Pregnant, But Her Parents Want to Move

My girlfriend and I are still under 18
incase you were all wondering.
Anyways, from my understanding of the
situation, my girlfriends mom and dad are
gonna go move to another county which is
about an hour away from my house. 45
minutes without any traffic.
All my gf told me was
my mom said we're moving adn that I could
come over ( her mom said that because she
knows i wont be able to )
My girlfriend is pregnant with our child
and if she moves, i may never see her or
the child again. Currently my license is
suspended and my parents would never make
that long of a trip.
2 days after her parents knowing she's
pregnant and they're makeing a decision
like this? What's going on? They'll have
to make an hour drive to work and to drop
off there oldest daughter to community
college. I don't understand what's going
on here!
I was raised with divorced parents and
i'll be dammned if my kid will be raised
without parents even living together or
even seeing eachother at all, so my
question is.
I want to know if my girlfriend would be
able to live with me for the best intrest
of her and the child. as far as im
conserend, if this doesnt happen, then ill
never see my child or gf ever again

I'm not sure if it's different where you
are, but where I'm at (in Arizona) your
girlfriend won't be able to move out
unless she gets emancipated, in which case
she'll have to prove she can provide for
herself and your child. Or, her parents
could sign custody over to yours. Aside
from that, you could go to court to get
legal visitation rights, and have to work
everything out there.
If none of those options work, then just
suck it up and make an effort to see your
kid. Take a bus. Grab a taxi. Bum a ride
off a friend. My fiance lives two hours
away, and he still manages to see me every
weekend.

if she is under 18 then they can take her
wherever they want
she is underage still
and unfortinately so are you and theres
not much you can do about it
im sorry
you do have a right to see your child
but its going to be a looonnnng battle in
court against her parents
my advice is get a really good stable job
and try to do the best you can
if her parents dont want you to see the
baby then you have to prove to them that
its your child too and that you want to be
apart of its life

How much longer will it be before you get
your license back? How old is your gf?

I'm having trouble seeing how just an hour
of distance could actually prevent you
from seeing your girlfriend and future
child. It's really only an hour! Is there
no public transportation? Greyhound? Coach
Bus? Train? Nothing?
I'm sorry your girlfriends parents' plan
to move has inconvenienced you, but you
and your girlfriend could not have
seriously thought that they would have
planned their lives around you and your
baby, especially after you planned a child
with a complete disregard for their lives
and plans?
Why can't you move to the new county to be
closer to your girlfriend? I know you're
only 16, but you are able to rent as long
as you have a cosigner.

Does one not become automatically
emancipated once one gives birth?
I thought I had read that somewhere

I think he realizes this whole thing was a
huge mistake. I feel really, really sorry
for him. I wish every teen who ever even
considers planning a baby reads his
words.
I shudder to think what will happen as the
pregnancy continues, and then the birth
(agony and hell), and then the reality of
a child crying non stop and waking every
two hours and the sleep deprivation hell,
etc., etc., tc.

No. Emancipation is not 'automatic'.

No. To get emancipated you need to either
join the military or get married with your
parents consent, or get emancipated by a
judge. To do that, you need to prove you
can support yourself (and your child if
you're a parent) and explain why it would
be in your best intrest to be emancipated.

Too bad people don't have to pass that
same test before having children.

Before attempting, at least. I would have
failed the test, but my pregnancy was an
accident so then where would I be?

I'm sure everyone will jump on me for
saying this: but in a way, a lot of teen
moms do get pregnant ... maybe not so much
on purpose... but maybe they don't try
really hard not to become
pregnant.
You know, how a lot of girls use the pull
out method as 'birth control' and we all
know - EVEN TEENS KNOW! - that doesn't
work. Or even though birth control is free
and readily available at family planning
clinics across the nation, they don't take
it regularly.
I'm not saying ALL teens do this. But
there are a fair number of girls who do.
The girls who think he'll love her more if
she doesn't use a condom.

Now, do you see how you are not in a
situation that would qualifyas "bad"? You
would have passed the test in katrina's
post, because you have no financial
worries, right?????

I got this from teen fatherhood FAQ
http://teenadvice.about.com/od/teenfathe
rs/a/teenfathersFAQ_2.htm
| Quote: |
tr> If you are the
father you have the right to know your
child and to participate in your child’s
life. You have rights of custody and
access. You also have responsibilities.
You have the responsibility to financially
and emotionally care for your child. You
have a responsibility to be present in
your child’s life and ensure that your
child’s needs are met. You have the
responsibility to ensure that your child
is safe and well cared for and is free
from harm. You have the responsibility to
make decisions that are in the best
interest of your child. More on rights and
responsibilities later, first let’s look
at the most important thing every
prospective father needs to know about…
how to know if they are really the father.
Parenthood is not an easy thing and it
should never be entered in to lightly. No
matter what the circumstances surrounding
conception when you become a parent you
are a parent for the rest of your life.
Fathers are no less important than mothers
and their obligations to their child are
no less than those of a mother. Just
because biology has made it that mothers
carry the child in their body this does
not mean that the mother is the most
important parent. Both parents have
important roles to play in the life of
their child. While having a child while
you’re still a kid your self is less
than ideal this does not make you any less
a parent. Once you know a child is yours
it changes your life forever no matter how
old, or young, you
are. |
