Prognosis of Proteinuria - related to renal failure?
Posted: 11-03-07 15:27pm

The doctor said protein is found in the urine of my mom. And he has ordered a 24 hours test to look further into it. The doctor says he will refer her to see a specialist in case proteinuria is confirmed in the 24 hours test.

My mom is planning on a 1.5 month trip and she plans to see the specialist (if needed) after she comes back, which will be about 2.5 months from now. Is it advisable for her to do that? Can anyone give a prognosis of proteinuria? I read it can be related to renal failure. So how far will it develop just in case (hopefully not) that renal failure is the reason which causes the proteinuria? Is it possible that problems will come soon enough that she will start feeling sick during the trip(which means within the next 2.5 months)?

Sorry for so many questions. I am very confused and worried now. It's always not easy to find out that your loved ones may have severe health problem. It just make you feel so helpless and desperate.
