Gallstones Symptoms (not IBS - Heartburn - Indigestion)
Posted: 11-03-07 15:08pm

Hello,
I have IBS now for over 14 years and was diagnosed many years ago, I recently in the last year or so had symptoms of Heartburn and Indigestion acid reflux not associated with my IBS. I wanted to get to the root of the problem why I was suffering from such awful reflux and indigestion it comes and goes usually lasts for about two to three weeks and then relaxes for maybe a few weeks again before starting again.

I had Helicopacter Pylori on three occasions and they have tested for this and ruled this out, I also have had three endoscopys which were clear apart from some small Polyps. My doctor then suggested I have a ultrasound scan which then showed many small gallstones, great I thought at least some answer to what might be happening inside my stomach. I am due to have a removal of gallstones with an operation this year and wanted to ask a question to anyone else who has had gallstones.

The specialist at the hospital told me that some symptoms of gallstones would be some indigestion and acid reflux and that the stones do move around, my throat is usually red at the back where I feel the acid is coming back up, I avoid all spicy and fatty foods as a precaution but still seem to get this horrible taste and acid reflux problem. Could anyone advise me on Gallstones and what symptoms they had when they were discovered, my IBS is as I know still prominent and unconnected to my Gallstones and acid reflux
Thanks
