Q: Help Me Classify My Weird Syndroms!

I'm not even sure what these are, exactly... some kind of stress attacks? syndromes? disorders? Feedback from anyone with knowledge or similar experiences will be greatly appreciated...

Okay, so these are four different types of mild things I go through once in a long while (about four times a year). These things don't really affect my daily life, but I'm just curious if it's just me...

1: Sometimes I go into this phase that lasts about two minutes, in which I feel like I have a screaming voice inside my head. It happens during the day, usually when I'm alone and awake. I hear everything, mostly sounds of small objects such as a paper turning or a pen writing, as if they are being SHOUTED. AT. ME. Everything seems much louder, but I am completely aware that the actual sound is normal. Sometimes time seems to go by slower when this happens, and it's almost as if someone is in my head.... Sometimes I try to talk as this happens, and it helps, since the heightened hearing only happens with objects.

2: I have periods of time when I smell only one specific smell, not of anything particular (not good or bad). No matter where I go or what the actual smells of the area are, I'm aware of them but only smell that one smell. If I had to describe the smell with comparison to an actual smell, I would say cleaning detergent. But again, it's not an actual clean smell. This also happens to me with taste, where I taste the actual foods also, but that one taste always remains as a "theme", I would say. This happens about once a year and can last for days, usually when I'm on vacations (not in my home country).

3: Sometimes when people are talking around me, specifically teachers at school, I hear what they're saying, but usually by words and not sentences. I feel as if I am saying it with them in my head, as if they are speaking in my head and I am MOUTHING what they're saying, instead of paying attention to the index and meaning of their sentences. I can turn it on, but if it starts by itself, I can't seem to turn it off.

4: This last one usually happens while I'm sick, but it has happened when I was completely healthy. Also, it usually takes place once I look at the television. When I watch a show and this happens, I feel like something is not right in the image. Something about the frame of the image distracts me from the show- it's like a click in my head that feels wrong. This also happened once I was driving with my family around, and I looked at the scenery. It's an annoying feeling of helplessness, because I feel like something if off in the image, but I can't understand why and what. I don't really think that it even has anything to do with what I'm looking at, specifically.

I'm 16 years old right now, and most of these things started occuring only about 4 years ago.
#1- noticed for the first time while studying for a test at home, two years ago maybe.
#2- I don't even remember when this started, but it occured last when I was on vacation in europe where it snowed.
#3- Noticed at first 3 years ago during a school lesson where I couldn't concentrate at all because of it.
#4- Noticed for the first time last year when I wasn't feeling well and watching televison.

Hope you can help me with this brain stuff.... I seriously don't know why these things happen or what they are.

No, they don't bother me at all... Like I said, they only appear for a couple minutes (most of them) about four times a year, so it doesn't affect me anyways. I was just wondering if someone had similar experiences, but it's not an issue at all most of the time... It's not serious.

Doctor Internet isn't good at stuff like this, I'm afraid. It's possible you'll just grow out of it, or it could be a symptom of something else. Hey, maybe you're just special! Razz

If it does get scary or worrying, though, you really should go to a doctor.
