Wow, that was mean and uncalled for.

NA, I wish you all the best. I hope you have no problem conceiving when you are ready and you have healthy babies.

Gah! You're right; I didn't even realise it was aimed at NA. I'm reporting the post.

Ah, Cambion, don't you know you can't have strong dissenting opinions on this board? People are way too touchy for honesty.

(*I don't agree with Cambion's statement, but I do believe she has the right to say it.)

It's funny how pro-lifers can tell me they hope I don't have kids and it's just dandy, but when I dare express the same opinion toward a pro-liar, everyone gets their panties in a wad.

Oh well...if NA's hubby was shooting blanks, she'd probably just conceive her mini-fundie with some bit on the side and say it's her partner's offspring. Pro-life beliefs are rooted in deception anyway, so this wouldn't be too far of a hurdle for the average pro-liar. If NA does get cursed - I mean 'blessed' with brats, hopefully they'll all grow up to be homosexual atheist pro-choice childfree rockstars. Smile

Your disgusting - I mean, "dissenting" - opinion had nothing to do with debates on this forum. It was simply meant to be hurtful. You do NOT have the right to hurt people's feelings so callously. It is not professional, polite, OR acceptable.

Is there any place on this website that spells out the rules clearly? Like something to read that explains what is and is not acceptable, something that explains this, for example:

"You do NOT have the right to hurt people's feelings so callously. It is not professional, polite, OR acceptable."

The reason I'm confused is because Cambion is right when she says this:

"It's funny how pro-lifers can tell me they hope I don't have kids and it's just dandy, but when I dare express the same opinion toward a pro-liar, everyone gets their panties in a wad. "

Yes there ARE rules on this site. They are stickied at the top of every single forum. Here's the link to the one right here in Abortion Debate:
http://ehealthfor um.com/health/topic44943.html

Personally, the argument shouldn't be "pro-lifers get away with it so I can too", it should be "pro-lifers need to be punished too".

Eiri, in case you haven't noticed, pretty much all the topics started in this forum de-rail at some point. You speak as if going off-topic is some new concept. And professionalism on a public debate forum? Let's not play pretend, okay? Smile

It's still unacceptable to wish infertility on someone. It's not that you've gone off-topic, it's that you said something that crossed the line.

For the record, I have not said Cambion should be censored for it, I just said it was mean. I've had prolifers tell me I shouldn't have kids and it doesn't bother me because I have no intention of reproducing. However, if I was trying to get pregnant or wanting to in the future - THEN it would be an insult.

Going off topic and insulting someone are two different things. I don't see how your comment is related to this discussion.

Do you feel either side should have the right to insult the other? As NA is indeed TTC, Cambion's comment was cruel and unacceptable in my opinion. Then again I'm big for being nice to one another unless provoked.

Hi, thanks for the link, Here's what the forum guidelines say:
Here's the first part:
Quote:
You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented or any other material that may violate any applicable laws.

Does this mean language that violates a law is not allowed, or is it more than that?
Here's the rest of it:

The key word is OR.

You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented or any other material that may violate any applicable laws.

So you should not post comments that are abuse OR illegal. You can't do either. Heck, they could be abusive AND illegal but they don't necessarily have to be. Just being abusive is bad. Just being illegal is bad. They aren't the same thing. Do not post abusive comments. Do not post illegal content.

It wasn't. But the original discussion de-railed anyway, so does it make a difference whether or not I related my comments to the discussion?

Well let's see...my posts were not abusive because I did not wish harm on anyone (infertility is not a disease, contrary to popular belief). Were not obscene or vulgar - note I did not curse at all. They were not slanderous - NA doesn't have a good name to be tarnished. Wasn't hateful...I don't like NA because I think she's a lot of things that would be considered obscene or vulgar, but I didn't go out of my way to be totally toxic (I will give you toxic if that's what you want). I certainly did not threaten anyone, nor did I sexually harass anyone.

So, in conclusion, my posts that are in question did not violate any of the forum rules, so everyone who is getting all whiny about them can un-wad their panties now.

Cambion - you were abusive by wishing misfortune on a fellow member of this board. You may not view infertility as unfortunate but nightangel would and you know that.

I'm locking this.
