Mangosteen - do you recommend this product?

I have been hearing a lot about the mangosteen products. I would like to know if it is worth the big bucks? I am looking to people who have recently started using it within the last few months. I am looking to better my health with it, no specific health problem.

I have been taking the XANGO juice witch is the only WHOLE MANGOSTEEN ( no other mangosteen product has the pericarp witch is where most of the xanthones are found) for 2 months I also have no health issues. I saw such a huge difference in my dad ( inflammation in his shoulder from an accident) and in my husband who has a very physical job and he was always in pain who is no longer in pain. So what I noticed was an increase in my energy witch was amazing because I already have a lot of energy also I have just been back at my job working with horses witch I have always been slightly allergic to And no allergies symptoms. I love it and I give it to my whole family including my 2 1/2 year old daughter and my 6 month old son. it is amazing

Mangosteen pericarp contains Xanthones
Actually...

I must correct Candyisnot by saying Xango is not the only product with the pericarp in it. The Xanthones in the pericarp are pretty much the only useful thing in the Mangosteen as the nutrition content of the fruit is extremely low. The problem with the pericarp is that it is unpalatable with a very strong bitterness/sour taste. That is why it has to be combined with the sweet Mangosteen fruit in the product Xango.

Mangosteen pericarp is not a cure-all but has great anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. There are over 40 Xanthones in the pericarp with the most promising being Mangostin and Garcinol. These have been suggested to have appetite suppresant characteristics.

If you would like to consider a different product containing not one but over 20 superfoods based on 10 exciting Native Australian ingredients, Kakadu juice is for you. The blend of the worlds foods such as Acai, Green tea, Mangosteen, Flaxseed, Barley Grass, Pomegranate, Blueberry, Cherries and many more in a concentrated wholefood beverage is loaded with bio-active nutrients and has helped me greatly.

Mike

I would recommend reading the wikipedia source with good info about mangosteen. Be wary though, the wiki entry is written in a negative note by non current information I can't give you access to current resources due to the restrictions on this site.

Just a note, there is a toxicity warning for long term consumption of Mangosteen pericarp. More study is required. It may not be the best thing to give to children so young.
