Actually...
I must correct Candyisnot by saying Xango is not the only product with the pericarp in it.
The Xanthones in the pericarp are pretty much the only useful thing in the Mangosteen as the nutrition content of the fruit is extremely low. The problem with the pericarp is that it is unpalatable with a very strong bitterness/sour taste. That is why it has to be combined with the sweet Mangosteen fruit in the product Xango.
Mangosteen pericarp is not a cure-all but has great anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. There are over 40 Xanthones in the pericarp with the most promising being Mangostin and Garcinol. These have been suggested to have appetite suppresant characteristics and are being studied for many other applications.
If you would like to consider a different product containing not one but over 20 superfoods based on 10 Native Australian ingredients, Kakadu Juice might be for you.
It contains world foods such as Acai, Green tea, Mangosteen, Flaxseed, Barley Grass, Pomegranate, Blueberry, Cherries and many more in a concentrated wholefood beverage is loaded with bio-active nutrients and has helped me greatly.
I would recommend reading the wikipedia source with good info about mangosteen. Be wary though, the wiki entry is written in a negative note by non current information I can't give you access to current resources due to the restrictions on this site.
