Q: Whole Milk

We started giving Ava whole milk today. She won't take it from the sippy or the bottle. She'll take a few sips from the sippy, but not from the bottle at all. She slapped it out her mouth and went hide it today when Jesse tried to give it to her. I'm thinking of doing half milk, half formula to transistion her. Any other suggestions. The dr. said that I can wait until 15 months, but formula's expensive and I'm ready for her to take milk.

its very hard for babies to change their habits. for example trying to take the pacifier away from the baby. so i would suggest keep trying to give her milk or give her half milk half formula. I am sure with time she will start drinking milk.

i don't know, i'd try mixing it with formula and just keep messing with it until it's finally all milk.

finn took to milk immediately, our problem is he isn't drinking nearly as much as he should be and i don't know how to get him to drink more.

it'll be a relief when you get her on milk! i'm so glad i don't have to deal with bottles or worry about running out of formula anymore.

Alyvia hates it so far. I think it's because milk is cold, and boob milk is warm. I tried offering her whole milk in a sippy cup the other day instead of a boob and she got so mad at me. I don't know if I should try heating it a bit or not - I don't want it to spoil and make her sick.

We want to just do bottles at night. She doesn't want the bottle of formula or milk unless she's tired. I couldn't see giving her a sippy at night b/c she wouldn't drink it and I'd hate to see her go to bed hungry. I may cut it out during the day for naps though. I'll probably only save one bottle for the night. It's so hard with 3 people taking care of her and only 1 (me) knowing what's best and how to go about doing things.

we heat finn's bedtime milk for about 20 seconds in the microwave. i don't think it's a problem, don't some people drink warm milk to help them sleep?

it just seems like a big glass of cold whole milk would just sit in his stomach while he's trying to get to sleep.

i don't know, probably high power? i never mess with the power on the microwave. just shake it really well when you take it out so there are no hot pockets.

my mom heats my sister milk for like 45 seconds. warmth of the milk has nothing to do with its spoling. u wudnt want a cold milk right before u went to bed would u? this sounds very silly to me lol well maybe because m from europe and every1 there heats their milk....

um well my sister drinks it at night and before she takes a nap in the afternoon. So she usually finishes the whole bottle. But if she deosnt my mom just refragerates it and leaves it for another time. Or just finishes it herself. lol but heating milk is very good for the baby, it makes it sleepy.

many hours, i would assume. i usually give finn a cup with milk and he'll drink it throughout the afternoon.

That's what I figured. I guess if she doesn't drink it within a few hours I can put it in the refridgerator until next time.

warm milk wont hurt your baby. Cold milk might, because its too cold for the baby and might cause it to get sick. Warm milk is very good for the baby.

its cold, babies are very sensative to cold stuff. Like u wudnt put ice in your babies water bottle or like take it outside half naked when its freezing outside. Babies are sensative to everything. Thats why they get sick alot.
