Why does the patient information state BYETTA should not be given to Insulin Dependent Diabetics?
My Husband has Type 2 but is insulin dependent 4 x's a day with injections of Humalog and Lantus at night. Just curious as to why the contradiction?
Thank you

My Experience
I have an insulin-dependent brother-in-law who tried Byetta. He is thin and very active. Byetta curbed his appetite so much that he started to lose weight. He didn't need to lose weight! So I think the appetite suppressant part of Byetta is for the type 2's and that's why it's probably not recommended for the type 1's. Of course, this is just my guess - I don't know for sure.
