I just had a baby 12 weeks and I have been on b/c for a month and a half now.

I did awesome the first month and I started my period the day that I took my first placebo pill. This month has been horrible. I missed the 2nd pill of the pack, then the 5 then the 7th and no I haven't taken in a couple of days.

What is the likelihood that I ovulated? I have never taken b/c before so I have no idea what is going on. I am now 5 days past ovulation and concerned that I messed up bad.

I knew I was a horrible candidate for the birth control pill. I asked for the patch and my dr said no Sad I am just too busy with a newborn to remember. Somedays I honestly thought I had taken it only to find out the next day I was behind again. ARGH! I wish I could go back in time.

Well if you are bad at remembering taking birth control pills, then you might want to ask your doctor about nuvaring or mirena both of those you have to insert so it might be a little easier for you.

So, you missed the 2, 5 and 7th pill of the pack. Have you taken all of them correctly since then? Did you take two the following day to get you back on track? Have you had any break through bleeding?

Are you breast feeding?

Is Luke sleeping through the night yet? Did you temp when you were ttc?

I am not breastfeeding anymore. Luke has to be on formula because of allergies.

I stopped taking them beause my sister told me I would start my period. I have started but then I read that it isn't a 'true' period. I am sooo confused!

The bleeding with this period is weird though. It is bright, bright red and I have never had period blood that looked like that.

and nope, Luke isn't sleeping through the night. He's up every 3 hours for a bottle *sigh

Your sister is right. It isn't a 'true period' it is withdrawl bleeding. Which is a good sign. That is also why it looks weird. Your body is reacting to the changing hormones.

Have you been using protection since you stopped taking them?

Because you are no longer breastfeeding, it is *possible that you could begin ovulation again. So, it would be hard to say if you have or haven't ovulated in all the confusion.

And if he still isn't sleeping through the night then NFP is not an option yet, but it might be something you could keep in mind for when he finally is.

ummm, nope we haven't used protection since stopping. I guess you could say I am so frustrated I just wanna give up.

I don't mean to sound stupid Kristy but what is NFP? I have never had to use b/c before and my dr doesn't explain things very well.

One thing I am banking on is that it took me 10 months to conceive Luke. Maybe I won't get pregnant easily. I think I will always have to work at it.

You don't sound stupid at all. I should have elaborated. NFP is natural family planning. You know how a lot of women chart their basal body temps in order to know when they are fetile so they can conceive? It works with avoiding pregnancy as well. That way all you have to remember is to take your temp in the morning and not take a pill. It works for some, but some people have problems with it.

It sounds like you might want to look into a different doctor. It takes time to find a birthcontrol that works for you. Many people go through a few different methods before they find what works for them. If you don't mind me asking, why didn't they give you the patch?

Just because you had trouble the first time doesn't mean you will the second. Look at Bridget. She was trying for Finn for quite a few months. But bubba #2, it was the first month off birth control, they weren't technically trying yet.

Have you guys discussed a second baby?

We have discussed the possibility now, lol. It wouldn't be a horrible thing but I wanted to wait about a year or so. Hubby is starting up a business and I think we should wait till it is off the ground.

I am switching doctors soon because we are moving so maybe my other dr will be better. She didn't give me the patch because of blood clots or something. I really wanted it too. Wouldn't give me the ring either because she said that people have problems with those as well.

Now I know what NFP is. That is how we got pregnant with Luke. I want to do that after I can get 8 hours every night. I am familiar with it and I am now really good at it Smile

Yeah, you will definitely have to wait until he is sleeping through the night to try using it to avoid pregnancy. Then when you decide you want to start ttc again, you'll already be a step ahead, and won't have to worry about your body adjusting from birth control.

In the meantime, I'm pretty sure that a low dose pill is your only option. I had the same problem. I have high blood platelet levels, so I wasn't able to take anything with Estrogen. (It's that ironic Confused ) But, depo was just to hard on me. So, I went to a low dose pill. It was that or nothing! Laughing So, I understand how frustrating it can be to be so limited in options.

If you guys want to wait for a little while longer for #2, then you should start using protection until the your pills are active again. How many days has it been since you stopped the last pack?

You should consider an IUD, no user error, and you do not have to remember anything.

It has been 5 days since I stopped taking them. I was checking my cp and cf and I really think that I ovulated last Saturday. I took a test but obviously it was negative (i am a little ocd). Since I was almost positive that I ovulated Saturday I didn't think that I needed protection. I think we are just gonna use condoms until I get regulated better.

Do you mean just use condoms, period. Or use condoms until you get everything back on track with the pill?

If you did ovulate last Saturday, is there any way you could have gotten pregnant? Or did you guys miss the crusial days?

I want to use condoms until my body settles down and then use something else ( I am thinking Nuva Ring).

And yeah, we dtd Thursday, Friday, and then Monday. Monday was prolly too late. But Friday night was a bad thing.

Welp, that was some pretty good timing. I think fertility friend would give you a 'high' rating for possible conception. Laughing

But, you may not have ovulated at all. It may still be to early, and your body could just be gearing up to ovulate.

You also could have ovulated.

This is a toughie. Are you going to wait until next weekend and test?

Yup, I am going to test probably next Friday or Sunday. It will bother me all weekend and I am supposed to be going on a trip with my mom and sisters. Sorta like a girls getaway.

I guess we will find out then. I am being careful until we find out though.

Oh, and I am still having breakthrough bleeding so that confuses me. I mean the egg wouldn't have implanted yet so I don't know if that will keep me from getting pregnant.

I didn't read through all of this, so I'm sorry if this has been mentioned - but look into take-them-and-forget-them bc..... either the shots, the patch, an O-Ring, an IUD... etc. I'm going to get a shot after this baby is born, because it was a pain in the patootie to remember the pill before Very Happy

Good luck with everything :]
