Bone Fractures Not Showing on X-rays - Steriods
Posted: 10-31-07 00:40am

Confused Hello, i am a 43 old woman, that has contunuis problems with my broken bones NOT showing up on extras.. It has happened 5 seperate times. For the last 8 weeks, i have shooting pains up my right hand @ the right wrist bone, it feels like a sever pinch. I had broke my leg 1 time and it was confirmed because it was a bad break. This injury hurts way worse and when i twist my arm its brutal sharp pain up to the elbow. I have been on very high doses of oral, iv and in hailed steriods for over 20 years. Bone density has been fine, but this hand has now crippled me.. any advice from you i would love to hear.. Right now its wrapped in a tensor, that is the only way to keep the bone from popping out of the socket at night. i extra showed nothing, but it was the wrong angle... help
if you have any ideas.. i need this arm for christmas!! thanks ww Wink

Can you please explain me more about your bone problems?
Did you break your bones five different times and the fractures didn't show on X-ray?
What kind of injury you suffered each time you had a broken bone?
Do you know under which diagnosis you were treated for 20 years?

Individual Breaks

Hello, i had tripped and broke 3 bones in my left foot while wearing heels, they xrayed 4 times, no broken bones to i went to pysio therapy for over 3 YEARS!@@## and develped a huge growth on the area of the broken bone. Finally saw a specialist and they said"oh its a cyst" call after the new year and we will take it out, so i did Jan 2 called and arrange for surgery, at 1st the doctor was rude while going into surgery, after surgery, he apoligized and said i had 3 broken bones in my foot that they couldn't see!
2nd time broke a rib when they dropped me off of an exra machine, they couldn't see that one either. There were other times as well. I fell down 2 stairs and broke my leg, that time they could barely see the break

I have been on prednisone off and on for 20 years due to poor lungs, don't give up if u feel u have a broken bone get and mri, thats what i will do . I have had bone scans and things looked good, but now i am not so sure. This injury feels worse than the broken leg, its a pinching feeling when i twist my hand, same feeling i had when i broke my leg??

What was the mechanism of your arm's injury?
Which part of your upper limb was most injured?
Do you have swelling of your arm?
Can you notice some obvious deformity of your arm?
Do you have reduced movements?
Can you ask your doctor to refer you for a x-ray exam?

?1 wrist bone right hand, straining the pinky fingar, send shooting pain up my arm.
?2 upper limb is strained like tennis elbow, its getting better.
?3 yes, wrist is swollen @ the site
?4 yes the bone on the right side of wrist is swollen.
?5 majorly, i must wear a tensor bandage all the time, other wise it feels like my wrist bone is popping out of the socket, especially at night.
?6 yes i had an x-ray but they x-rayed the left side of the wrist, it should have been x-rayed right side, or maybe is should pop the darn bone out as they are x-raying?@#!@

What have you been told for the wrist and pinky finger?
Do you doctor think you have strained your hand?
Do you find very hard and painful to move your hand and fingers?

Nothing has been told about the pinkie and wrist, but when i twist either my hand or pinkie to the right, it sends a searing pithing pain thru the right side of my wrist.
?2 no, i would have to see a bone specialist and that takes up to a year here! Sad
?3 yes to the hand, and pinkie and ring fingar.
I definatley strained my elbow, tennis elbow, ecept i was making 100 muffins for the crew. must run busy day!

Do you have insurance to cover an extra examination like CT scan or MRI for your hand?
Do you have severe pain with pale, white, blue, or cold fingers or hand?
Is your finger, hand, or wrist twisted, bent out of shape, or out of its normal position?
Do you have numbness or tingling in an injured finger, hand, or wrist?
Are you experiencing pain that increases with movement?
