I'm pretty sure your dentist would hate you for it right now. You will also have serious issues singing for a few weeks.

Perhaps right now isn't the best time to get this piercing? Why don't you wait until your braces are gone. You can make it a present to yourself Very

Tonge peircing should not be done under any cercumstances as it looks descuisting and it makes a funny sound and people carn`t pronounce words that well when they try to talk.

There are many rumors.

1) It can chip teeth
Who knows? It is a piece of metal flapping around in your mouth. I've heard of people biting it when they eat, so it's entirely possible you could chip your teeth on it. It won't reverse the work of your braces though.

2) It can cause facial paralysis
This is know for a fact can happen. A friend of my got her tongue pierced, and only took it out a few days later because half her face was paralyzed. Thank god feeling returned when she removed it. This is a serious but fairly uncommon complication. Still, it does happen.

3) It will make talking difficult for a few days/weeks.
This too is true. You're gonna sound funny for a few days and there's nothing you can do about that. As far as singing goes, it won't affect your range or skill with hitting notes. You may have to re-learn enunciation to work around the ring. And if you're singing correctly with your mouth wide open to project, your teacher is going to see Wink

4) Recovery is somewhat painful - and you'll get hungry.
You can't eat anything for several days, nor should you use straws with the liquids you are able to drink. Straws cause pressure in the mouth that can draw out tissue from within the piercing and make it heal wrong.

It actually doesn't hurt at all. Out of every piercing I have had done, the tongue hurt the least. I didn't feel it.

I talked normally afterwards, also, but that was a couple of years ago. I have since taken it out and now I think it's just...trashy.
