I was just about 10 weeks pregnant for my second child when I miscarried about 2 weeks ago. As I expected, my doctor told us they could not pinpoint a reason for the miscarriage, or say that it was the fibroids I have that caused it. I was diagnosed with uterine fibroids about a year and a half ago. There are about 5 or 6, and reasonably sized. At that point, my doctor told us it is our choice to try to have some of the fibroids removed (a couple are in the lining of the uterus) or try to get pregnant without the surgery to remove them. The doctor couldn't really tell us what to do. I got pregnant and had an ultrasound after about 7 weeks, and there was a heartbeat. Everything was fine. But, as mentioned, I later miscarried. My husband and I are at square one again. We face the decision to try again or have the surgery and then try. We realize there's risks either way. Another miscarriage without surgery or permanent damage to the uterus with surgery. We just wish the doctor could point us in the right direction towards the better option.
