i have alergic rhinitis i have had 2 operations to remove polyps....after the ops i was fine for a good few years the about a year ago i got a real bad infection and when it was over i had no sense of smell my doc prescribed nasonex nasel spray and fexofenadine tablets these have stopped the constant runny nose but then about 4 months ago my sense of taste went i can tell the difference between sweet and savoury salt and sour etc but no flavours...Have you any sugestions and do you think the medication could be making it worse?I have high blood pressure that is well controlled by nifedipine.I would appreciate your input.Thanks.Marlene

Extremely eHealthy
Some patients using Nasonex are complaining of loss of smell.
Temporary loss of the sense of smell is common with nasal allergies, like allergic rhinitis.
Loss of sense of smell can be due to neurological and endocrine disorders.
Have you been suggested to visit a neurologist and endocrinologist?
Are you covered with your insurance for doctor specialist's visit?
Please, watch for a salt intake.
There is a obvious link between people with loss of taste and high blood pressure.
Wating for your post!
Best wishes!
