Hey, I read your post and it sounded a little familiar so I thought I'd reply. I'm also 19, and have had trouble sleeping for years, off and on. Since school started this year it's become somewhat worse. Last night I was up until 5 or 6 am, woke up at 7, then slept a few more hours. The problem is I'm a student and missed two classes. It's the most frustrating feeling because I'm tired, but I just can't fall asleep. I don't even feel like myself right now. I'm too tired and it's making me anxious and depressed. I've never tried sleeping medications because I just don't like take medicine, and I don't want to become addicted. But, I decided to make an appointment with my doctor because I just can't keep feeling like this.

I know how you feel about the irritability, and the moodiness. I probably don't have any advice that you haven't heard, but I've always just been told that if I can't sleep for more than 15-20 minutes, I should get up and do something else. I've also been told, of course, to keep as normal of a sleep schedule as possible, but that isn't always easy.

Anyway, if anything I can sympathize with you...hope you find something that helps. Smile

One thing that works for me is herbal teas. Sleepytime tea relaxes me and calms me down enough to fall asleep alot easier. Give it a try and hopefully it will work for you too.
