Menstruation - are two periods in same month normal? Posted: 10-28-07 19:54pm
This month I had two periods. This is very
unusual for me. Should I be concerned and
should I see my doctor?

see your dr but there could be many causes
for it. I wouldnt worry too much about
it. I have been having issues with
periods every 2-3 weeks (when they were
every 4 weeks normally) and the dr told me
it was somehow related to the
endometriosis I have.

I am having the same issues of two periods
is one month but I was told it was low
iron. Am I being mislead or is it just
stress that s the question? I talked with
a doc and he said to take iron pills so
maybe try that it worked last month for
me.

Well... from what I thought, having
multiple periods/excessive bleeding would
CAUSE low iron, not the other way around.
But I'm not a doctor. It could be a lot of
things though, always good to check.

Just finished my second period in one
month. The flow was lite, but cramping and
burning in lower abdomen area. Perhaps it
is just stress. I am anemic. Should I
consult my doctor?
i think that the best thing to do would be
to visit a doctor and get some advice.
Having 2 periods in 1 month is not right
at all.

Yeah- bleeding a lot could make you more
anemic and that's not healthy.

Ive always had irregular periods, and for
the past 3-4 years Ive had 2 periods a
month, one would be heavy and long, the
other would last 4 days and be extremely
light. (usually)
Ive been on Loestrin FE birth control for
6 months now to try and regulate, and it
has helped. A lot. No more cramps, no more
heavy periods, and the best part, one
period a month. This is actually the first
month that Ive only had one period, it
takes awhile for your body to get used to
the medicine. But its a suggestion for all
the girls who have irregular periods, Ive
had good luck with it so far. The first
3-4 months I was extremely emotional
though, and lost any sex drive at all,
only bad side effect Ive had, and the
sexual drive is coming back now. But now
its SUPER light (Im actually thinking of
getting a Diva-Cup, because its so light
that my light tampons wont get wet enough
during the day and they hurt to take out)
and they only last 4-5 days.
And I dont know about the iron thing, but
I know that these pills do have iron in
them on the days you are suppose to be on
your period to supliment for all the blood
and iron you're losing.

Yep, to combat the anemia caused by some
women's periods. But the b/c will lighten
your period in general, so that would help
too. Good advice.
