Did you have consultation with an ear, nose and throat physician?
When did you get rid of nasal polyps?
Did you have them in your sinuses, too?
Did you loss your sense of smell and taste after the surgery?

Did you take medicine to treat the infection( antibiotics and a decongestant )?
Do you suffer from chronic sinusitis?
Untreated chronic sinus infection can be along with polyps, a reason for blocking your sense of smell.
If you have sinus infection, you should visit an etn doctor and take a therapy for clearing up your sinuses.
Some people that have been using Nasonex are complaining for loss of sense of smell and taste.
Upper respiratory tract infection and nasal obstruction due to sinus disease and polyps are two of three main reasons for loss of smell and taste.
A smell loss after a cold is usually experienced and some people will regain the ability to smell, but others will have a permanent loss. Smell loss due to nasal obstruction usually in the form of nasal and sinus polyps usually occurs gradually and will come and go, often in relation to an increase in sinusitis symptoms.

I also have had two sinus surgeries. But,my ear, nose and throat doctor warned me before my surgery that I might loose my taste and smell, and I did. After the first one I lost it,but got it back. Then I had the second surgery and it did the same thing, but I got a bad cold and my smell and taste never has returned and that has been about 3 years ago.
