After years of repeated UTIs I recently underwent ultrasound and x rays and was told, initially, that one of my kidneys is scarred at its upper pole and "full" at the bottom, whilst the other one is healthy.

This is all I was told. I was then sent for an IVP and have a follow up appointment to see the doctor in November.

I am confused by what he told me, though. He said the scarring was irreversible and that the "fullness" can only be likened to somebody who is overweight.

Any ideas what the problem is?
