Q: Changing Date For the Period While Taking the Pill

My period is comming up and I was wondering if I can move it forward a few weeks? I don't want it to be on the same dates as it is right now, I want to move it a week earlier. Do I need to take the pill for 3 weeks and then come off it for the period?

Thanks

Most likely that will screw it up even more. I found that I could change the date, but you have to do it a few days at a time versus a few weeks or else your cycle can be off or last longer than normal. For instance, try changing it 3 days every cycle and eventually you can get it to where you want to go. What meds are you on? Is your last week a sugar pill? If so, just start your next pack a few days early and this will move it up.

I wanted to skip my period last month, and I tried to do it by skipping the placebos and starting a new pack of pills. Unfortunately that didn't work for me. My period was over a week late, it lasted for 3 weeks when it finally came, and the pms was ten times worse! Then a week later my cycle became regular, and I got my period again. Lol it was terrible... So you're probably better off not tampering with nature. Odds are you'll screw up your period big time if you do.

So yes, skipping the placebo pills and starting a new pack does work for some women, but it doesn't work for all of them. If it's a dire necessity for you to push back the date of your period, ask your doctor for his/her advice.

I also cannot skip my periods. Many women can, but I cannot! I had the same problem as the above poster! Sad
