Hi I just wanted to say hello.
I'm new here and hypoglycemic.

Doctors don't seem to understand the help that a hypoglycemic person needs. It drives me crazy! I understand that they didn't train for it in their schooling to become doctors so they probably find it hard to give the right advise on such limited knowledge but grrr. naturalpaths are very expensive!
All my life doctors have treated me like I have fake symptoms or something and I was just left to grow up through life never knowing why I couldn't do what others could and having no consentration through school with numerous other problems I am sure you all know about.
When I was 18 my doctor found out I had hypoglycemia while checking something else and all she told me to do was carry around candy to take if I start feeling hypoglycemic.
I have just recently started looking into it online.

I find my mornings are way worse than my evenings. Everyday really. I still after all these years have not had one normal morning without feeling something off. Comes close though. Especially eating close together seems to almost cure completely.

BUT right now I am pregnant and need help!!!
Every time I eat a meal. I become very sleepy and heavy after, a bit dizzy and if sleep doesn't happen then headache and off balance a bit emotionally distressed to a great degree because of the extream tiredness. I have to sleep off what I just ate for sugars to go normal again.

The one thing is.. the doctor should do a GTT ... to see which way u are going.
I was told by my high risk OB that i prolly will go the oposite way.. and my sugar might go higher.

Do u have a glucose meter.. If ya do.. check your sugar when u first wake up after a night of not eating. Then write down what you eat for breakkie, and then check it after an hour or two.. and see what it is. make sure u write everything u eat.. and your test results are. Then u will have some stats to show the doctor.

Good luck and Congrats!!!!!!!!

Also, being hypoglycemic... you need to eat differently.. (its not just keeping a candybar on ya incase you have an issue-- I keep OJ on me.)

I would also ask to see a nutritionist.

You should not be eating candy, that is a SERIOUS mistake and you'll find out in a few years if you don't watch. Juice should only be cut with equal water at first and not used to get the level back up. You should be eating nuts or cheese when you feel hungry between meals.

Get rid of hypoglycemia completely
My mother became hypoglycemic after she had me, but she read this book, Hypoglycemia: A Better Approach by Paavo Airola, followed it religiously, and was able to overcome her hypoglycemia. I recently became hypoglycemic and am following the diet, and so far it's really helped! One thing it says is to not control it by eating sweets, but to focus on whole grain foods, nuts and seeds, and other foods rich in magnesium to aid in carbohydrate metabolism. Something refined foods don't have and cannot do. I hope you try it because hypoglycemia can flip and turn into diabetes, I've seen it happen with my aunts.
