Side Effects On Mirena? (Page 1)

Must Read
Birth control is helpful in preventing pregnancy. Need to know more about birth control? Start here to learn more about popular methods of birth control....
You have many birth control options. Each works differently. What are the choices and what should you consider in order to help you make your decision? ...
Each method of birth control comes with risks to your health. What are the general problems you could encounter?...
I was told by my doctor that this is a wonderful form of birth control. I had it inserted in July 1 month after having my second child (which made me a good candidate, already had kids, monogamous relationship). Anyways, the pamphlet didn't really have that many side effects listed and I don't know if this is in my head but I have been moody, getting really angry for no reason or over something so miniscule, hair falling out (three times the normal amount) legs hurting, bad period cramps, lots of acne (in places I have never ever broken out, major fatigue among other things.

I am thinking about having it removed. My doctor said that this has nothing to do with the IUD and that spotting and cramping are normal and I should wait it ot. Oh and I have absolutely nooooooo sex drive. Zip, zero, zilch, don't even think about it. HELP???

Because Mirena has hormones, it is completely possible for you to be having these side effects. I'd advise the copper coil iud as it has no hormones and thus, almost no side effects.

I had the copper one and they have now discontinued it. I had it for four years! The last year I bled for an entire year....awful. This same problem is being reported repeatdly...I was told by my doctor that is why it is being discontinue.

I had the copper IUD for 10 years and loved it! I had it replaced, as recommended after 10 years, with the Mirena and I just finished an 8 day period. With the copper IUD my periods were only 4-5 days. I wish they wouldn't have d/c making it.

Copper iud's are not that great. I got pregnant with it, and the doctors told me that they see a lot of unplanned pregnancies with these. I went on Mirena, and have had so many problems that I am getting it removed next week!!!
I've had exactly same problems like many other women, acne, hair loss, constant irritability, ugh...
I don't think IUDs is the answer.

mirena
At 44 I fell pregnant and thought that this was the best solution at my age for contraception...how wrong was I, within the first few months the side effects started..weight gain ( 20 kilo's in 10 months ) migraines, acne, cramps, back pain, chest pain, heart palpitation, exhaustion, panic attacks, bloating (have been asked if I was pregnant) brown spotting once every other week and lack of sex drive (none) which was never the case previously... My partner so understanding throughout this time Googled and read this page of other women just like me going through the same ordeal...the next day I had my GP remove the IUD..during my consultation she did agree that a number of symptoms I was having was related to the Mirena, she advised me that I would not have a period or bleeding for the next 4 - 8 week, that was 3 days ago...well I just started spotting a normal colour and soon will have a normal period...I am feeling mentally better just knowing that this is the start of getting my life back to normal...And to all you Ladies I advise you that if this becomes a problem with your partner PLEASE get them to Google this site so they can understand what we are going through without a choice.....Best of luck to you all..

I am 36. I have been having major panic attacks! I had my Mirena put in about a year ago. Shortly after that they started and they are not getting any better. I also gained like 20 lbs. I feel terrible. I don't get excited about anything anymore!

I didn't have any real side effects with the mirena but if you are then go back to your doctors - you do not have to suffer these things because of birth control!

If your legs are hurting, you NEED to see your doctor about that.

I had some pretty nasty side effects on Mirena too. It is a great form of birth control, but just doesn't agree with some women, like all forms of birth control.

I suggest you give it a little longer and see if the side effects go away. Some sources say to wait it out for 6 months with mirena and the side effects should go away. I waited for about nine and then got it out as quickly as I could lol.

But read this first: from planned parenthood

"Serious problems usually have warning signs. Report any of these signs to your clinician as soon as possible.

* pain in the abdomen or chest
* severe headaches
* sudden shortness of breath or spitting up blood
* unusual swelling or pain in the leg or arm
* changes in the frequency, severity, or associated symptoms of your headache
* aura — gradual onset, yet short-term visual experience of arching, bright, flashing zig-zag lines
* worsening depression
* yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice)
* a new lump in your breast
* unusual heavy bleeding from your vagina"

Mirena
I had a very bad reaction to the Mirena. When I went into my doctor yesterday (8/27/11) I had typed out a list of side effects I was having. He looked me in the eye and told me that I was crazy that what I have is just severe depression. I explained to him that I had been feeling fine until I had the Mirena put it. He was very insistent that I was just depressed. Well I was not going to keep that device in. Even though I felt like the doctor was trying to convince me to keep it in and told him to take it out. Did I have depression? Yes I did but it didn't come on until the Mirena was put in and everything just made me depressed. I had so many symptoms. So it is out and I feel just a touch better today but am going to wait a few days to see if I feel a lot better. If I feel better I am going to call the doctors office and tell him that I am not the crazy one it is him. I wonder if he gets a commission from Mirena.

Cysts are definitely a side effect of the mirena IUD,
I really wanted to try the mirena as well but im scared of all the side effects and hair thinning that a lot of people are seeing. That and the CRAMPS. Who would want to have BC and have their cramps be worse >.< idk if its worth it.

Yes, there most doctors do get a "kick-back" when they use drugs and other things from pharmaceutical companies. Whenever you're at a doctors office, do you see those pharm. reps coming in with their paperwork and free samples?? If the doctors agree to use their products, the pharm. companies "help" them out too. Wink Now, the trick is to find a doctor that WILL listen and take their patients concerns at heart and not worry so much about the money, but the actual health of their patients. I recommend trying different doctors until you find the right ones for you. I did and yes it may take time, but it's worth it. Smile

I actually work at a doctors office and there are no "kick backs".. drug reps are the ones who make commission off of how many scripts the dr writes, the doctor doesnt get anything except samples of the drug.. That movie is a lie

No, its not all a lie. There definitely are kick-backs (you might not be aware). There are pharm. cos. that even leave keys to news Merc. on the table of the doctor that agrees to prescribe their medicines / products. Hence the hunt for real Doctors is a painful but worthy exercise.

You really know nothing about how the doctor/pharmaceutical rep relationship goes, do you? The samples go to help patients, not the doctors, and the pharma companies cannot provide any "kick-backs" to the doctors whatsoever. You say you see drug reps going in with their paperwork and free samples, so therefore you know what they are up to? Does that mean that just because you see a doctor come into a room with a stethoscope, you know how they perform open heart surgery? Love and Other Drugs has made the average idiot think there are experts on this industry. Your misconception is irritating and makes you look like an uneducated fool.

Ok hahaha, not kickbacks exactly, but my mother is a (specialty) nurse. What do you call all those fancy expensive dinners they take medical professionals out to while pushing their product and telling them how great it is (I love the leftovers she brings home too - amazing). Plus all the random little bits of shwag they give you, pens, bags, etc. It's not as corrupt as that person makes it sound no, but there is definitely a relationship there that does not promote a fair and unbiased assessment of the product. I'm sure there is market research that shows that these actions make doctors more likely to prescribe their products or why would they bother? The medical literature should speak for itself without the hard sell.

The kick back would be the doctor writing scripts for certain drugs that the pharmaceutical company wants to promote. If doctors agreed with their patients and stopped advising getting the Mirena IUD the drug companies would not like that. I had mine removed three days ago and I am feeling alot better. Had it for 5 years so it was time to remove it and did not repeat. I have fought depression and weight issues since getting it but after several conversations with my GYN within the last 5 yrs told me my symptoms were not caused by this IUD. I have to argue that because I am feeling like a new person. Lost a pound in 2 days, the bloating is not as bad, bowels have been moving some much more normal as before dealt with constipation. My husband has even noticed a change and it has only been 3 days now. Wish I had had it removed years ago.

Depression, acne... Mirena = BAD
I had the Mirena for a year and about nine months, and it was HORRIBLE. That thing pretty much ruined my life, and I only recently figured out what was causing all these symptoms. My depression and moodiness (EXTREME irritability, snapping and lashing out at people for no apparent reason or for extremely minor things) ruined the relationship I was in when I got the Mirena put in, and it has nearly killed my current relationship. My face looks like a disaster area--HUGE, red, painful cystic acne all over my chin, cheeks, sometimes on my forehead. I would cry at the drop of a hat, just intense sobbing over NOTHING. Finally after googling "Mirena acne" and discovering how many other women had had these types of side effects from the Mirena, I realized what had been happening to me for the past nearly two years. It all suddenly made sense. I went to the urgent care center and begged for them to take it out. I cried twice at the hospital because I thought they weren't going to take it out for me or were going to make me wait three weeks to have it taken out. It's been out two days now and already I feel SO MUCH BETTER. It's like the difference between night and day. I can't say anything about your leg pain or your other symptoms, but Mirena gave me SEVERE acne, SEVERE depression, and SEVERE anger problems and irritability. The acne will probably take some time to calm down, but even the day of having it taken out, I felt so much better and like a normal person again. I haven't been all weepy or lashed out at my boyfriend, and I KNOW there have been things he's said or done since I've gotten it out that before would have made me cry or want to punch him in the face.

Long story short, I don't think your symptoms will go away. If anything, they will just get worse. Mine did. Please do yourself a HUGE favor and go get the despicable thing removed.

Cystic acne, i now have scars and pits from this acne. my doctor wouldnt listen to me when i told him that NEVER before, even in my puberty stage, had i EVER had acne this bad!! My legs ACHED, for no reason, heat helped the aching a little. I WAS A MONSTER!! I would snap at my kids for little things, things i used to shrug off. and my poor husband, i yelled at him for the stupidest of things!!! I feel your pain, and i too, just two days after having it removed, began to feel like myself again. i already feel healthier. Doctors don't know everything, and u must trust your body

I am so glad that Im not crazy!! I have the worse acne EVER in life! This month will be a year for me and I'm gonna have this crap taken out. I loved the idea of not worrying about BC but not at the expense of looking like a monster! I have spent hundreds of dollars on products to control the acne and none of the products have helped. I haven't had any issues with my legs or my body but at one point I felt like I was allergic to it due to a vaginal issue! I think I'm going back to the Patch!

Wow I feel like I was reading my own life story. THis happened to me too. It ruined my skin too. I still have it in because the doctor told me it wasn't causing the acne but I've never had acne before. Now its gone to a whole other level. I hope my skin isn't permanently damaged. I'm going to a new doctor now and will get this out as soon as I can.

Hoping to be normal again...
I am a HUGE fan of not having to worry about pregnancy, not having to but tampons at the monthly trip to Target (one box of pantiliners has lasted 6 months)and not having to ever consider birth control. LOVED THAT!!!

Here is the other side:

Insertion was REALLY painful. My child was 6 years old so it had been a while since anyone or anything had been near that cervix. I remembered the pain when I was pregnant and my doctor wanted to force dilate my cervix. OUCH! I got the sweats and almost passed out just after insertion. I was fine after about 10 minutes and glad that was over.

2 weeks after having it inserted (Feb 2008) I went back in with issues and was charged another $200 on top of the original $600-something to have it put in for an ultrasound because I was having the most intense right side pain that jolted through my body from my ovary area on the front to the "butt temple" directly behind it on my lower back. I was sure the thing had imbedded my uterus. NOPE...all was fine. Except for a NASTY bacterial infection, which cost me ANOTHER $125ish at the Pharmacy. So, back to home I go.

Finally after a day or two the "FUNKY SMELL" went away (WHEW!...only temporary though as you will see shortly) but I still had the intermittent stabbing pains and a constant ache in my lower back area. I started noticing my vision was become blurred on occassion. I contributed that to a late 30 thing....boy was I wrong.

Over the course of 11 months, I dealt with the following:

**MAJOR Mood swings
**Suicidal Thoughts
**Depression
**Overwhelming Fatigue
**Minor weight gain (5lbs) but NO LOSS at all, even dropping down to 1000 calories a day and an hour of exercise DAILY...Not a dropped pound
**Bloating so bad I looked 4 months pregnant sometimes
**Patchy skin, like when I was pregnant
**Sore nipples
**Acne all over, even on my upper outer thighs...weird
**Complete disinterest in sex
**Not wanting to be touched or hugged....just stay away....by anyone, even my 7 year old daughter
**MAJOR snappishness
**COMPLETE LOSS OF INTEREST IN ANYTHING
**NON STOP Vaginal infections with horrendous odor (Plain greek Yogurt and apple cider vinegar on a tampon are much cheaper than a doctor...hint, hint....works in a day)
**Unusual "gush" of liquid discharge (About a teaspoon of cloudy water) every morning after getting out of bed (I KNOW>>>EWWWWWWW!!!!)
**muscle soreness

...I am sure I am forgetting something here...

So, today I had it removed. I will post in a few weeks to update everyone. EASY REMOVAL!! Small tug and gone. No pain.

I hope I go back to normal. I used to be a happy person with a healthy Vah-Jay_jay........

Be blessed all.....

you rock my world.

i went with the Paragard IUD because of the hormonal side effects of the Mirena. i just made an appointment to switch to the Mirena because of a 7 month non-stop fight with BV (that horrible smell!) that lead up to a bartholin gland surgery!!!! it was in agony, spent sooooooo much money it was out of control.

sure i had my sex drive but who wants to have sex with a rotten tuna fish?? and when i didn't have BV i was battling with the side effects of BV and was in too much pain.

thank you so much for confirming that BV will be a battle for me with Mirena and i get to add the lack of sex drive and depression i know so well from every other hormonal birth control.

ladies, take this down - i am not going to put my body and health in jeporardy for the risk free enjoyment of sex for two people. men - start your research or get out the scissors, you need to start helping on the birthcontrol front. a vasectomy is reversible i hear.

OMG I have been on the internet looking for reason to why i am having the symptoms i am having. & you have hit them dead on. I had mines insert in 2009 because of heavy periods, blood clots & fibroids i was told. Well the bleeding never stop heavy bleeding yes but some almost month long periods. Well since the beginning of 2011 the bleeding stop except for when i have a period. But, i still have to wear a pad because my vagina is alway wet i mean extremely wet (sorry for being to graphic). I wake up in the morning to the gush & it is so disgusting. Wearing pads all year nonstop is the worst. I have been to the doctor because i get irritated from them and she just gave me a cream. I made an appointment will be talking about this with her. I now have to consider what i am going to do about another form of birth control. When they thought i had fibroids turns out 2yrs later that i have Uterine Adenomyosis. The perks of being a women 2 thumbs up LOL...

I now need to fine a new form of birth control that will help my firoids and goes along with my high blood pressure medicine. What I do know, the Mirena is not it. Thanks

Finally I understand!!!
I'm so amazed that I finally realize what has been happening to me these last few months... I have felt so completely out of control two weeks out of the month right before my period... excessive irratibility, uncontrolled anger... feeling so completely depressed and hopeless... I couldn't think (I'm one who thrives on routine and am able to stay organized for the most part and take care of things) I couldn't figure out what I needed to do first to get anything accomplished. I have been so exhausted constantly regardless of getting 8-9 hours of sleep every night, eating right and excercising. I have had the muscle soreness in my back that doesn't go away and cramping and nipple soreness like I've never had in my life! I was so depressed that I went to a counselor as I just didn't know what else to do and she advised I go on anti-depressants. I'm so glad that I started to research this since I was told like many others that Mirena's side effects are mild and few. I can't believe how many posts I have read from women all over the world with almost my exact story. I cannot wait to have this removed and be a normal and happy person again. I would have gone on the medication and wondered why I wasn't improving because the Mirena IUD was causing it all along! Thank you all for sharing and exposing this problematic form of birth control... Maybe it's ok for some, but if this many people are experiencing these things, it seems that more information should be given by the drug company and those who prescribe it.

Thank god!!!! My co-worker told me about a family memeber of hers and all the side effects she thinks is caused by mirena. I started reading all the blogs, and I too have a lot of the side effects. Weight gain, extreme moodiness, depression (even was put on depression meds), acne and periods that last longer than when I wasn't on any birth control. I am so thankful that all of you have blogged and let those side effects be known. I plan to get this THING out of me ASAP! Again, thanks

Just Realized
So, I have gotten to thinking lately about what has been causing my weight gain (I've always been thin, without effort) and bad acne on my face, back, and chest, which I also have never had a problem with! I suspected the Mirena (I've had mine a year), but was unsure because for the first few month's I didn't see any side effect's at all. But now reading everyone's comment's, I'm sure it's the Mirena causing it.

I can't say that I've had any of the mood swings, or depression, maybe cause I'm a grump anyways? Ha ha. But I have also noticed more vaginal discharge, it's clear, and doesn't smell, but still annoying, since I have to wear a panty liner everyday.

It's too bad that I started getting these symptoms, I LOVE not having to worry about taking a pill every day. Not to mention my period has been non-existent since a few week's after I had it inserted.

Mine is coming out ASAP!

So long Mirena!
I had mine put in after my 2nd child in March 2009. I had irregular bleeding for a couple of months, then lovely, short periods.Just when I thought I was all evened out and in the clear, I began to have brown spotting for a week, a clear week, a period for a week and then the spotting time increased and eventually went on for a solid month. My doc was just about to put me on something to even out my hormones when my periods ceased altogether. Great right? Not so much. All during the brown spotting periods, I began to get grouchy and snappy, super irritable. That's completely unlike me. I quit my high stress and frequent travel job in October and have not a care in the world, yet I'm feeling like this? It's gotten worse and worse each day and I'm beginning to feel like I don't want to do much of anything. I've pampered myself, my dh has been wonderful and sweet, but nothing is helping. I'm getting my Mirena removed tomorrow!

Were your cycles regular and, if so, was it too soon to test or do you feel it was an accurate time to test? I do know that having it put in, taken out or while it's in you can have hormonal issues like you're describing. Problem is, they can also mimick pregnancy. Each time I've been pregnant, my breasts were terribly tender! I'd test again the $ store has accurate, inexpensive tests!

Merina
WOW!!!! Amazing stories that relates to me alot!! I've had the mirena now for 1 year and 2 months, because i had big troubles with my periods (heavy bleading). I am a mother of 2 and cant have anymore they fixed me on my second child!! Its been over a year now and lets just say that like alot of you's i have acne all over my body, and i never had that before, i gaines a sugnificant amount of weight. I've been going to sleep lab for the past few months cuz i'm always tired. I have no energy to do anything whats' so ever. Today i finally saw my genecologist again, and shes sais that it is not realted, that the merina would'nt do that, but ya right we are living proof that it distroyes our body. After 1 hour 1/2 in her office, we finally came to a conclusion that i'll be getting a full hersterectomy cuz i've been having troube wiith my periods since the ages of 14.
After reading all you comments in this merina, i agree 100% with all of you that this things just destroyes your life little by little. I will be getting it out in march at the same time as my surgery, and i can't wait to have my life back!!!
Beware to all new users, read the side effects before getting this thing inserted in your body!!!

I have been to so many forums like this and have read countless stories that sound just like mine. After a year and a half of hell I finally connected the dots and realized that Mirena was causing all my problems: hair loss, extreme fatigue, depression, rage, acne, NO sex drive, vision problems, nausea, constipation, brain fog, etc, etc.....it was terrible!!! Not to mention that I went to my family doctor for tests (found nothing) and a naturopathic dr. who told me I had Lyme disease. Went through treatments there, paying out of pocket...no one ever asked me about birth control. At the office where I got Mirena put in they wanted to put me on anti-depressants and I said no way. I just got it taken out on Feb 17 and THEN the nurse practitioner admitted that Mirena has caused a lot of problems for many women and that she no longer recommends it. She wrote down all my symptoms, nodding her head to each one as if she had heard it a million times before, and said she thinks this is only the beginning. She said they take out more than they put in now and I made a report to the FDA, and I recommend that everyone do the same. The problem is that with synthetic hormones like the progestin in Mirena, it skrews up the balance of your natural hormones, estrogen and progesterone. So even if you get Mirena taken out you may still have issues because your hormones are out of whack. I'm going to see a nurse practitioner in my area who specializes in balancing hormones with bioidentical hormones. I'm getting my hormones tested to see what the levels are. So if your dr. tells you your symptoms are not from Mirena he/she has no clue. Get it out!! It's so not worth it.

I just had my son 2 and half months ago, i thought of birthcontrol forms because pills make me extremely depressed so I went to my doctor and he told me that Morina have no major side effects and thats why a lot of woman use it. BS I think he just lied to me I dont know if they get money for it or what but he stated that best birthcontrol for smokers and birthcontrol in general it doesnt have as much estrogen as birtcontrol pills. Now its been about two weeks and i feel like crap everyday, I have no motivation to get ready or to get out of the house, I feel extremely depressed and fatigue is ubnormal i feel like im going to fall anytime it kinda scared me because I thought that i was pregnant because i have had pregnancy syptoms, but no im not pregnant no way im just exhousted all the time. After reading all this posts now i see whats wrong. I have headeche everyday all day and i never have headeche unless i have sinus infection. I think im going to take this good form of bc out before it ruins my life............im so glad i read this posts but i should have done it before i put it in,...thank you ladies

Well I had mirena put in 8/1/2011, I chose it because of heavy periods. So far I had a period which was light yet my body goes through many changes through the day like sudden hunger and tiredness but I was also told to give it at least three months. I still have a sex drive and my skin is clear is jut that I don feel myself i guess is because of the hormone released

I'm sorry to say I have had mine in for 4 and half years and just now am I doing my REAL research, I have been just astonished by everything that I have read because I feel like I am getting a play by play of what is going on with me. What has made me finally research is that I have had the WORST acne and I did have acne when i was a kid but not like this and NEVER on my shoulder back and chest....It is painful and I feel very self conscious about it. It has come off and on but this is it for me because it is so bad right now I feel just completely unhappy. it has to come out after 5 years and I am going to make an apt. to get it out this week because I really think that all this time this has been my problem. God only knows, what is suppose to be the most effective has just slowly taken me down over the last almost 5 years. Good luck with it if you keep it, I love not having my period but I think that there is something unhealthy with a woman's body not getting rid of what it is suppose to.

Mirena
I have read down through all of these stories, the only complaints that I have regarding Mirena is that sometimes I have cramps like I used to have when I had a regular period (but nothing like they used to be). I have gained a little weight over almost 4 years, but most of it was gained on the oral contraceptive Cyclessa.

My girlfriend had Mirena put in back in early 2007. I had mine inserted in December of 2007-it's been wonderful (aside from the placement which was painful, and the cramping that went on).

We both love this form of BC, however, I think that there is some serious consideration to be worked through when it comes to your body. All women's bodies are different. If it really is causing you to be anxious due to hormones and an imbalance, then get it taken out.

I have another friend who has the para-guard and she loves it, maybe consider that if you're wanting something more permanent. I would recommend Mirena, however, if you get Mirena placed in your body, and it's not agreeing, then don't try to talk yourself into it. Sure, give it six months, but it's not getting better, than it's not getting better. It doesn't mean that Mirena is horrible, it just means that it doesn't work well with your body and hormone level.

I hope you find a form of BC that works for you.

no sex drive on mirena
I have had it for about 6 months, stopped getting my period which I am totally happy with, but still have the discharge often so need a pantyliner. The only other side effect I've had is absolutely no sex drive and I can't imagine my husband is very happy about that. I have had no depression or fatigue (other than normal fatigue from having 2 small kid). I guess I have a few pimples now and then but no acne, nothing crazy. The funny thing is if I'm not having sex with my husband why do I need mirena lol! Thinking about having it removed...

Yes, I have positive feedback! The Marina can be aggrivating at times and have a few symptoms here and there, a lot like every other birth control. It really depends on YOUR body. I have had mine for a year. I generally get menstral cramps every other cycle, but that is normal. I do have some irregular bleeding here and there, but nothing that is absolutely bothersome. What I'm trying to say is that every woman is different. Not every woman will like or dislike a certain type of birth control. It really depends on YOUR body and how your body is effected by it. My suggestion is to leave it in and try it for at least 6 months to see how it works for you. Ladies, don't let others discourage you from trying new things just because they don't like it or it didn't work for them. Again.... Everyone is DIFFERENT. I love the Marina and I will keep it in until it has to be taken out and replaced.

Labia pimples? Otherwise Mirena is great
I have had mine a year now, and it's not given me any problems. I have not had a period in over 4 months. Up til then it was just regular... maybe a day or two extra eact time. They spaced out to about 45 days in between periods as well. The only thing I can't figure out is i'm getting pimples on my labia. Like you can feel them in there, almost like a cyst, but they're definitely pimples. They come back in the same spots every 30-60 days. No acne anywhere else, definitely not an STD, i've had it checked multiple times. They go away after I pop them, but humbug.... Otherwise, no odd side effects like these other ladies.... There are women it works for, and i'd say i'm more than satisfied with mine. It does what it's supposed to, nothing that makes me want to get it removed... Smile Try yours for about 6-12 months, then decide. It will take about that long to see if your body works with it.

My nurse practitioner said that she never lets a woman with a history of depression, anxiety, or migraines get the Mirena so if you have those problems it is a definite contraindication for having this as it will only make your problems worse. There are women out there who say they have no problems with this, but based on what was said at my dr. appointment there are many, many more women having issues. I think the problem is that so many side effects are going on that are not being linked to Mirena when in fact they should be. Most women trust their doctors, and when a doctor says "it's not the Mirena" they think they have some other problem. There are too many people having the same issues for it to be a coincidence and everyone who has these terrible experiences NEEDS to report it to the FDA at https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/med watch/medwatch-online.htm

thanks soo much
Thaaank you soo much, I just found out that I'm not allowed to have estrogen pills because of migraines and vision problems while on yaz. My doctor reccomended that I take the monthly shot but because I have a severe phobia of needles, I can't do that either so she reccomended the mirena because it is the only thing left to choose from. I told my boyfriend this but he wasn't happy about it because he learned about them in class and about all the side effects you can have including all the ones listed before and that can grow into you and can make it impossible to have kids again, which made me question it. Reading this site helped me in my decision to not get the mirena, thank you guys sooo much for saving me from all that Pain!!!
