Q: Working Out

So I just finished a grueling 20 minute session of weight training with a little yoga thrown in. OUCH!

Anyways, how did you all lose weight after having a baby? I am going to start watching what I eat but I am horrible at that. Do you guys have a diet that you do?

Sorry for all the questions but I am sick of being fat. I am going to post a before picture and then make you guys be accountable for my weight loss. I am ridiculously bad at staying on track Smile I hope you all don't mind.

Count calories. All diets are basically the same principle, limiting certain foods limits the caloric intake.

If you work within your 'calorie' zone, you can eat whatever you want. You could, for instance choose a candy bar OR you could eat and unlimited amount of vegetables.

You can look up calorie counting on line. There are tons of helpful sites! Watching your diet is 80-85% of weight loss.

I'm going into workout/watch what I eat mode starting next month, even though I'm sure Thanksgiving is going to completely ruin it. I'm getting a gym membership with my friend Bernie. I'm awful at watching what I eat though & I'm insanely addicted to mountain dew which helps NOTHING!

As for losing weight after the baby, I haven't lost much at all so I can't really help there. I was 174 the day I had Kaylee & now, almost 13 months later I'm stuck right around 150-155ish. I was 135 before I got pregnant.

I hope you can find something that works for you!!

Thank! I am horrible at counting calories but I am going to try.

I was 186 the appointment before I had Luke and now I am stuck at 155. I was hoping that breastfeeding would help but I am done with that now. I have never had to work at losing weight before. I could eat whatever I wanted to and still stay 120-125. ahh, to go back to those days.

I know I could always eat what I wanted also & I'd never ever go above 140!

Yeah. But the people who do eat whatever they want, are the same people that are on Biggest Loser.

I didn't do anything except breastfeed and chase my daughter around the house. It took about a year to get back down to what I was at my first prenatal appointment, and a couple months past that to get even lower.

I only weigh 15 lbs more than I did at my first appt. I gained allot the first few weeks.

I found this awesome thing were I can write down everything that I eat and it tells me the calories and then how much I need to exercise to lose weight. My goal is now to lose 25 lbs by January 21st and I think I can make it. That is losing 2 lbs a week. I really, really want to do this.

Bridget had a lot of luck using Weight Watchers, too. You get to eat normal foods and still lose weight! I think you can do it without joining or paying any money - there are lots of point lists online for free. You should PM her if you're interested. She has lots of info!

WW points system is essentially calorie counting. You just convert your 'calories' into their points value. Just a different way to count your food intake.

There are a million diets based on similar things - Volumetrics is another big one going around right now. Which is basically, the same thing a few years ago called Portion Control.

Read labels. That is the most important thing. If we know what we are putting in our bodies, we are aware of what it is doing to us. Smile A lot of the average American diet is pure junk that we tend to eat too much of.
