Have I had Epilepsy since I was a baby?
Posted: 10-26-07 21:08pm

hello. im 25yr old female started having seizures at 21 i thought
i didnt have a clue why i all of a sudden started having seizures. since i never thought that i could have epilepsy. now i have found out that i was having seizures at 3 months, well i was going all stiff and would make a noise for a few minutes then go all floppy and sleep for hours my mum told me this now, when i was learning to walk i was older then usual age to begin walking for a girl 14months i would fall forwards on to my head for no reason and get up not knowing what had happend. fall out of bed every night some mornings feel good enough to go to school, but my parents thought that on most days that i didnt want to go to school and that i just wanted to stay home, because i always was so tired most of the time. in my school report cards through primary school the teachers would always say that i would stare and not answer questions that they asked me and that i dont consentrate enough and they would get frustrated because i dont listen. i wasnt realising i was just a child. but i guess i was ok from then to teenage yrs when i started feeling like my hands were big and i was small and that things didnt seem right. my parents said its just growing pains, when i would cry because my hands and arches of my feet would be sore in the day after sleep, and i would always have mouth ulcers, my parents would say its because of orange juice. i was always sick very pale with dark rings round my eyes. looking back i now realise that something was wrong but how was i to know that there was something called epilepsy. i was just a child. i would just feel strange alot and things would feel familiar but i didnt know why, seeing as i had never been to a place that seemed familiar. just certain smells would make me feel like that, esp the very distinct smell of flowers. i just thought that it must have been hayfever. i suppose that head spins arent supposed to last a while. but oh well, never mind. now i still have seizures i am on lamictal and epilim and it seems to be ok, i dont have a seizure for 6 weeks well thats my best. but i do still feel weird some days. esp if i dont get enough sleep. my neurologist said that i have a epilepsy syndrome? but its hard to find out which one. they are always giving me combinations of drugs for lennox gastaunt syndrome, i think thats what he thinks. as i have so many different seizures. i was bad that i had to ware a helmet before but i dont now that i can go 6 weeks without one, just odd sensations. and seizures if i stay up too late. so does anyone think that it sounds like i had epilepsy since a baby?
i just dont know what to think.
sorry for the big post.

My condition is getting worse by the day. Im finding it hard to continue with my education and I can no longer drive.

I have been have these seizures whilst I was a baby too, I htink yours is the same but may a little difficult to recognise and dignose.
