Q: Flu Shots?????

Has anyone else got their flu shots yet? I got mine yesterday. I was wondering because it seems that since I've got it my baby is a whole lot LESS active. But I also got my amniocentisis the day before yesterday too. So not really sure if it's from the shot or the test. And I'm 25 weeks so movement is pretty regular for me.

I think you should speak to your midwife/doctor if you're feeling less movements. It really should be checked out. I had my flu jab when I was about 16/17 weeks pregnant and I didn't notice it made any difference with the baby personally.

Maybe baby is just having a snoozy day.

well this is the 5th or 6th year I've had it. I work in a nursing home so it's required. And my doctor said that pregnant women who will be pregnant during the fu season should also get it. So I got it AGAIN this year.

Yes I'm going to but I think I'm going to wait till tomorrow because she usually get VERY VERY active at night (7-10pm) so I'm gonna see how the day goes and maybe she'll perk up this evening.

I never got one, even while preg. My Dr said that as long as I wasn't asthmatic, I'd be fine.

I got one when I was pregnant. I took care of an elderly man and he was going through chemo/radiation. He was very susceptible to colds/flu. I had to be very careful.

Since then, I've gotten one every year and never had the flu. YAY!

I have never gotten a flu shot because every time someone I know gets one they end up having the flu on and off all year. So far I have been lucky, I very seldom get sick (knock on wood).

That's how my mum was. She got one once and immediately got the flu, it seemed like she had the flu for months but it was really off and on for about three months. I didn't get one.

How long ago was that? Flu shots used to be the live flu virus and some people did actually get ill from them. They don't use the live virus anymore. Flu shots are a dead virus. But they don't protect against ALL kinds of flu - only the ones that are *predicted* to be the worst or most common that particular year.

So, to have enough flu shots to go around, they have to make this prediction sometime in the spring. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't.

Actually it was almost two years ago. I was pregnant when she got it and she called to tell me not to get mine because she had just got hers and was sick. No need to say anything more to me, it was the perfect excuse to not get a shot!

The info about the virus thats in the shot is true, it is no longer used with a live virus. BUT...if you already have flu like symptoms, you might have a bad reaction to the flu shot when you get it...

ALso there are so many strains of the flu virus around...Just be glad that its not the avian flu...The flu shot cant possibly protect against all flu viruses. Also, it is a virus, so you never really get rid of it if you have it because it is a virus.

All that being said, I have never had a flu shot that I know about. I used to always see people that would get sick afterwards. My boss has told me different. I now have worked with the health department on the county pandemic flu plan and I have learned a lot...But Im still NOT getting a flu shot...

My aunt has been getting her flu shot each and every year because she works in law enforcement and they have to get it, and yet she is always getting the flu. At least 4-5 times a year...its crazy. Same with my mom she got it about 3 years ago and she said that she felt like crap for months.....so needless to say it was the last time for her.

I might sound absolutely crazy for saying this but sometimes I think that it is a government conspiracy......they preach to everyone about how important it is to get the flu shot but I think that they actually want people to get sick........somehow it ends up that they actually profit of it. I know I am crazy....but I just don't trust the government..lol
