I had to eat every two hours as well and I
have to bring food along with me still.
You need to STOP drinking OJ and honey -
that will cause you to crash. No sugars at
all. Please read Stan's diet version 8 on
here and it explains all the foods you can
eat.
In order to work out your correct daily
food intake using the Optimal Diet
proportions, you need to know how many
grams of protein to consume daily in order
to satisfy the body's requirements. This
amount depends upon the person’s "due
body weight".
The Ratio of Proteins to Fats to Carbs is
in grams, not calories:
1. 1 gram of protein per kilogram of
“due body weight”
2. Fats are calculated by taking each gram
of protein multiplied by 2.5 (minimum) to
3.5 (maximum)
3. Carbs are calculated by taking each
gram of protein multiplied by 0.8
“Due body weight,” in kilograms is
equal to the person's height in
centimetres less 100:
1. First, translate your height in
inches to centimetres:
§ Take your height in inches,
i.e. 66 inches (5 feet 6 inches tall), and
multiply it times 2.54 to get your height
in centimetres, i.e. 66 x 2.54 = 167.64
centimetres.
§ Next take the amount of
centimetres and subtract 100, i.e. 167.54
minus 100 = 67.54, or rounded out to 68,
which equals “due body weight.”
§ Thus, 68 is the amount of
protein grams to consume daily.
2. To calculate fats, take 68, which
is your “due body weight,” and
multiply it times 2.5 to find out the
minimum amount of fat grams to consume
daily, i.e. 68 x 2.5 = 170 grams of fat.
For the maximum amount of fats to consume,
take 68 x 3.5 = 238 grams of fat maximum.
3. To calculate your daily carb
intake, take 68 x 0.8 = 54.4, rounded to
54 grams.
Therefore a person who is 5 feet 6 inches
tall will need to consume the following
ratios daily:
§ 68 grams of protein
§ 170 to 238 grams of fats
§ 54 grams of carbs

I just use the OJ and/or honey for
emergency if it starts to go too low...
I didnt know there was that much involved
with figuring out what to eat.
All my doctors stink.. they dont tell me
anything. They just tell me to have NO
sugar, and low carbs and high protien.
They never told me how much carbs or how
much protien.. and what is my target Blood
sugar is. GRRR. What is 'normal' blood
range.. or does that depend on the person
as well?
Thank you soo much for replying to me.
I dont sleep very well cuz im afraid of
waking up with a sugar issue...

If you do have OJ, just have a little but
follow it up immediately with protein. But
try to eat protein first. It does take a
while for your body to get used to the new
diet - that is what caused such extreme
'die off' symptoms in me cuz I cut
everything out all at once. I suggest you
go slowly.
Everybody's range is different but 70-100
is considered a normal range. I bought a
blood glucose monitor to try to give me
some insight but it really did not work as
I was feeling low every couple of hours
despite eating a perfect diet. That's when
I thought there must be something else
going on with me - but had no clue.
I keep a small cooler by my bed because I
was waking up starving hungry early in the
morning. I am slowly getting better - just
in the last week in fact - where I wait
until breakfast. But I keep hard boiled
eggs in the cooler. I was keeping some
full fat yogurt and cheese too if I felt I
needed a boost but I don't need that
anymore. So, if you wake up, just eat an
egg or two and go back to sleep.
I still eat 2 hard boiled eggs ( part of
Stan's diet) before I go to sleep and up
to a month a go I was was eating some
veggies as well.
I was on the diet for 2 months and feeling
a bit better but still feeling overall
very crappy. I had been to several doctors
too, all said I was fine. Finally found a
natural doctor who said I that I have
Candida and high cortisol levels which
were major contributors to my
Hypoglycemia. Now that I am getting both
of these under control, my hypo symptoms
are gradually going away.
I was also always feeling hungry all the
time - so I really had to increase my fat
intake - olive oil, coconut oil &
organic butter - lots of it.
A good electrolyte drink that has been
helping me has been: 1 tsp good sea salt
(Celtic brand), half juice of lemon and 6
oz. water. I sip on that all day. It helps
with the cravings, my adrenal functions
(cortisol) and anxiety/depression.
I add a bit of the sea salt with my normal
water that I drink too.
Good luck & read up!

Where is this diet again??.. I couldnt
find it on the forum
Thank you
I noticed hard boiled eggs keep my sugar
up better. I ate an egg salad sandwich
with Miracle whip... and it was up for 2
1/2 hours instead of just 2. WOOHOO!!
I started having hypo after i had a flu
and gallbladder issues at around the same
time.
The only thing i could eat was waffles,
rice, and gingerale... (bad idea.. i know)
I like the idea of the small cooler by the
bed... Im gonnahave to do that.
My poor hubby is so sweet, he gets my food
downstairs when i am having too much of an
issue to walk down the stairs.
Thanx again for all the info.

It's a few posts down the page from your
post. Called: The Hypoglycemic Diet Final
Version. I recommend reading older posts
on here too - as they all have some great
info.
The eggs are great for you - I eat 4-5
eggs a day. I don't eat any bread ( or any
flour) anymore - too much sugar. Miracle
Whip is not good - better to get some good
quality mayo - or make your own - it's
very easy.
The only grain I'm eating now is Brown
Rice.
My husband too has been my lifesaver
throughout all of this. I was too sick to
cook at my worst point.
