I only see my boyfriend every other weekend. We have sex like six times during the three days. Two or three days later I get a yeast infection.. Can this be caused from the sex? Also how can I prevent them and get rid of them..

Always wear white cotton panties. Nylon and Lycra may trap air and create a breeding ground for yeast. Never wear panty hose alone -- always wear cotton panties underneath.
Never use petroleum-based lubricants for vaginal lubrication during sexual intercourse. Always use water-based lubricants when vaginal dryness is an issue.
Always wipe from front to back after a bowel movement to prevent the yeast which normally inhabits the intestinal tract from being transferred to the vaginal area.
Eating one cup of yogurt a day helps some women prevent the yeast infections that often follow antibiotic treatment; however, eating yogurt will not cure a yeast infection.
Don't use perfumed bath products or powders in the vaginal area, these can cause irritations which can lead to infection.
Don't use douches! Douches wash away the natural protective mucous of the vagina leaving the vagina more susceptible to yeast and other vaginal infections

Before you get a yeast infection decide if you prefer prescription or over-the counter (OTC) treatment.
At the first sign of yeast infection call your physician for prescribed medication, or go to your pharmacy to buy one of the FDA approved products that are available OTC.
Never self-treat a yeast infection unless you have previously been diagnosed for a yeast infection by a healthcare professional.
Always call a healthcare professional for diagnosis if you are not sure a subsequent infection is yeast. Other vaginal infections or STDs may have similar symptoms.

Are you absolutely sure they're yeast infections?

With that being said, girlfreind's advice was great. You can also go to web md and check out their website on ways to prevent yeast infections.

And always pee after you have sex. It just cleans things out.

You might also check with a doc to make sure it is a yeast infections. Symptons of some yeast infections are very similar to those of some STD's, such as Trichomonas, Bacteria Vaginitis, etc.). If STDs, then you'll need prescription meds, as OTC meds won't take care of them.

Yep. When you first get yeast infections you need to get checked by a doc to make sure they're not anything else...

Yeah, he can have a yeast infection (from you) and not show any symptoms, then he'll just pass it back. So don't have sex if you have a yeast infection, and tell your doctor that there's a chance he could have it so he can get treated too if necessary.

When I start getting symptoms I use the one day Monistat treatment and it cures it overnight and I don't have problems till the next time I have sex? Is it possible to have a STD and the symptoms be delayed with the yeast infection medication? Also, I started using anti-bacterial soap recently this is also the same time the yeast infections started could this be helping cause it?

YES anti-bacterial soap could cause yeast infections. Stop using it and see if it helps.

Acidopholus is the active ingredient in yogurt that restores the vaginal flora to its healthy ph state (from yeast). You can also buy tablets in health food stores and take daily in place of eating yogurt every day. This is helpful for those on AB TX for acne conditions, etc. Great advice above is given.

Definately have an gyn exam. If you can't afford it, go to your local health dept. It is imperative you are diagnosed correctly.

Best Regards.

Men can carry yeast infections if you spread it to them. They might not have any symptoms, and then they can spread it back to you. Ask your doc about if your sexual partners should be treated as well.

From what I know (and I did a semester long project in a pre-med bio class on it) the one and three day treatments work just as well, but for some women they are too irritating and do more damage than good. If you are sensitive, you will need to use seven day treatments. If not, go ahead with the one and three day.

Of course, sallie, I'm not contradicting your doctors. Always listen to them!

it probably is from the way you have sex I had it once and the doctor told me that it could one of many reason. You could have either wore a pad or tampon for too long, had really painful and rough sex, or it could be a result of some sort of medication that your on that might have triggerd it.He recommended that i go buy a tablet called SPORANOX but seeing that yours is recurring maybe you should go see a doctor, it might be more serious than u think.

Do ya'll think I could be allergic to the latex? I am a nursing student and I went to clinicals today and put latex gloves on and they itched my hands all day.. In previous relationships sex lasted 5 to 7 minutes at most. But my guy now it last a good while and it is like several times a day so maybe its the latex.. I was tested for STD's in August and came back negative and I have used a condom with my boyfriend everytime so I am almost positive it is not a STD.
