I am about 5 weeks, maybe 6, and before I
realised I was pregnant I drank alcohol.
The doctor said as long as I havn't
drowned my sorrows it should be OK, but I
am still concerned. During one week I had
one drink every night, and two drinks in
one night on the weekend. Before that, I
can't remember because I had no idea I was
pregnant and wasn't paying attention. Am I
right to be worried?

I hate to worry you, but any amount of
alcohol can hurt the baby, especially in
the first couple weeks because that is
when the major organs (brain, heart, ect)
are formed. I hate to be the bearer of bad
news, but I hope you've stopped and it
seems like you weren't a total alcoholic,
so good luck!

as long as you stopped drinking right when
you found out you were pregnant there's
nothing to worry about.
you can't change the past (what you did
before you knew you were pregnant), so why
dwell on it?
many women drink and smoke up until they
find out their pregnant.

My friends dr told her it would be ok in
the first little while as long as you were
not wasted everynight. Many people don't
know that they are pregnant. She had the
same thing and has two healthy girls from
that pregnancy. Stop worrying and look
forward to the new baby!
