I Want to Get Pregnant But We Have Genital Warts

I am devasted.....I just found out that my
husband gave me genital warts. We've been
married for two years and he has had them
long before we started dating. I cannot
believe I got them especially since I was
always so careful and never had
intercourse with too many people. I just
noticed them a few days ago and my doctor
diagnosed them. Although they are at a
very mild stage we were going to start
trying for a baby. I know we should first
be treated for this, but I don't know if I
ever want to have intercourse without a
condom. What do you suggest we do if we
want to try for a baby in the near future?
Should we consider artificial insemination
for this case?

Wow, that must have been very hard news to
hear. Especially because you were so
careful in the past.
Unfortunately, I don't think anyone here
will be able to give you much advice on
that. I really think you will need to talk
to your doctor. But, I'm sure it is a
question they here all the time.
Good luck!

You can have sex with your husband without
a condom. You both have HPV now and cannot
pass it back and forth to each other. You
can conceive naturally.

Don't worry. You can have a procedure
called cryo-surgery to get rid of them.
There is a likelyhood that they will
return, but will not affect conceiving.
Just make sure to have your yearly exams
because they can lead to abnormal paps.
You will be fine. Don't get too down on
your hubby. Its embarrassing enough to
have them, and he needs your support too.
I have a friend who has them and she has
had 2 healthy little girls.

I know we cannot pass them back and for
th to eachother, but if I get rid of the
outbreak I don't want to expose myself to
getting another outbreak. Does that make
sense?

You wouldn't be exposing yourself to
another outbreak. You have HPV. You will
have it forever. It is actually quite
common.
That was what I meant by passing it back
and forth. You have it. He has it. You can
have sex 200 times a day and that won't
change how your body will react to it.

HPV is the most common STD out there
because many people actually have the
virus and don't know it because they don't
have any symptoms. If your warts are just
small than they shouldn't bother you. You
can have them removed...but even if you do
they say that pregnancy can cause them to
come back, so I would have them removed
near the end of you pregnancy if that is
better for you. But it won't stop you
from conceiving and depending on where
they are and the size of them you should
even be able to deliver naturally. The
chance of passing it on to the baby is
very minimal unless you have them inside
your vagina. I really wouldn't consider
having artificial insemination because not
only is it very costly but it is
unnecessary.
So good luck and remember there are worse
STDs that you can have.

There is really no way to tell if a person
will have them forever. On most people HPV
can clear on it's own within 1-2
years, meaning that your body will get rid
of the virus on it's own..Some people it
will stay with them forever.

that is not 100% accurate if you have the
virus you will always have the virus. your
body doesnt just "get rid of it" but thats
according to my doctor she might be wrong

plus I have researched it.Yes the virus
can clear within it's own.

What i have been explained and what i have
gathered from the research i have donw is
that once you get the virus there is no
cure and you will always have the virus.
You might now have an outbreak but you
still have the virus....and it wont "go
away" but i may not be understanding what
i research either.

I think u should first get rid of the
warts(hpv) then have a baby. See if u get
surgery and remove ur warts there is a
possibility u get rid of the virus.
Especially if it is mild. U remove the
bumps where most of the virus rests in
then then remaining of the virus can go
away because ur body fights it off. It is
also good because u don't want it to lead
to cancer. I think people with genital
warts can pass it on to there babies and
the baby would have it in it's mouth or
throat, that is if u have a regular birth,
if u have a sesuction I think ur ok. When
u are pregnant the warts show up because
of ur hormones and u don't want to have
them when the baby is coming out.
You get rid of them by laser, burning, or
freezing
But u should ask ur gynochologist

Also each doctor says differently some say
u can always have the virus while others
say it goes away with surgery. I think it
depends on ur immune system, how healthy u
are, there are some people who don't even
get it when they have sex with an infected
person because they are so healthy. I
heard in mild cases when warts are removed
it goes away. I also heard it may take
years not just 1-2.

From what I have been explained, the virus
never goes away. The symptoms may go away
forever, or may come and go every so
often. And yes, pregnancy likes to make
the warts pop up because of the hormones,
but there is a very slim chance they will
affect the pregnancy/delivery. Apparently
I've had HPV all my life (got warts else
ware, especially as a child) then I got
pregnant and they popped up on my who-ha.
But because I am pregnant, they cannot
give me any treatments. My Doctor said
they usually go away after delivery (again
with the hormones) but if they don't they
have creams and lots of other ways to get
rid of them, freezing, scrapping, etc.
