You can buy a $20 meter at any pharmacy and test yourself. You do have to poke yourself in the finger to get a drop of blood, however. You need to look up 'diabetes criteria' in order to understand your numbers.

You can also just call your county or city local health department and ask where there's a free diabetes screening in your area, and someone will do the finger test for you. Free screenings are typically held periodically at fairs, grocery stores, and churches.

They blood drawn with a needle will give a more accurate result, but not dramatically more accurate.

I know it might seem very scary! My mom was a diabetic for almost 30 years, she has since received a kidney pancreas transplant. She used to have to poke herself all the time! thanks firstly everyone for getting back to me. id this test just like a finger prick and or also could you have had a test when you were 8 and or not be positive for diabetes and or then be i dont know 16 and or then maybe be positive this time. also some of my symptoms are always being thirsty, always needing the toilet, and or once i think that i had a sugar shortage, went and or felt really faint and or ill, but then when i had eaten a choc bar (breakaway) i felt quite better. write back asap please and or ansa all plz.

You can definitely have diabetes even if you didn't have it when you were 8. It sounds like you have a lot of the symptoms. You can go to a drug store and buy some ketone strips. You just pee on them and they show if there is sugar in your urine. It's a blood-free way to see if you might have diabetes. Good luck!
