how much did you spend monthly on diapers alone when your babies were newborns?

i know it depends on the brands and stuff but travis says its about $150 a month for diapers. i thought it would be more like $80 a month
just wondering what everyone else spent

We buy one of those big $20 boxes every 2 weeks so about $40 a month. When she was a newborn though it was more like $60 a month though.

I hope you are buying diapers now, Suzy. It makes it easier to start out with a bit of a stockpile of diapers. Smile That way the expense doesn't hit you all at once. Smile

Newborn babies go through a very lot of diapers! It can get expensive. It does depend on what brand you buy though.

I wouldn't buy a ton in a small size until you see how how big she is, because they also grow fast.

Jaylon was only in "newborn" size long enough to go through 2 packs and the hospital sent us home with one.

The deal they have at Sam's is pretty sweet, but I will caution you on buying in bulk. Babies grow fast. Jaylon is in stage 3 diapers and that deal works for us now, but to buy that many diapers in size 1 and 2 probably wouldn't have worked to well.

We spend about $40-$50 a month now give or take

The best baby powder I'd suggest getting is the liquid kind. Then you don't have to worry about the baby inhaling a big cloud of powder!

I never used the butt paste, we've swore by the generic version of Lotrimin for Kaylee's diaper rashes because all of the other stuff (Desitin, etc) never worked for her.

Do you have a nose sucker (lol I can't think of the actual word for it..) ?

Aveeno baby lotion is great - it doesn't have a scent, so it's perfect for sensitive skin, in case your baby is allergic to other lotions. One of my friends swears by it.

I love Aveena baby lotion! I've never liked the smell of Johnson's baby lotion though.. When I left the hospital they sent me home with 2 diaper bags, a thermometer, nose sucker, diapers, a few hats, a huge bag of giant pads, I know there was more I just can't remember. They pretty much told me whatever I found in the drawers or closets in the room I could take.

One of my friends uses the bath & body stuff on her little boy, she had nothing but good things to say about it! She loves it.

i swear by it too!

finn had bad baby acne and i washed his face with the unscented aveeno baby wash and then put the lotion on, 2 days later it was completely cleared up!

I tried it and I didn't find that it worked for my daughter. But then again every baby is different so it wouldn't hurt to try. I used the lotion because I didn't like the stuff that goes in the bath water because I find that the water gets too soapy and i had a hard time rinsing the shampoo out or her hair.

OHH & those disposable wash cloths for babies.. I don't know about anyone else but I had a horrible time using them on Kaylee until she was about 6 months old or so. They get extremely soapy & it was just too hard to rinse her off while I still had to hold her neck & everything.
