I had swollen lumps under the arms and around the nipples for months, went to the doctors twice and they couldn't pin down what the problem was. My partner also had the same thing. I read this forum and noticed a common trend of hot tubs/water so looked around my bathroom for likely causes. The only thing I could think of was the mesh shower puff thing so I threw it out... haven't had any lumps for about a month!
hot tubes r notorious for causing problems if not PROPERLY maintained
common to hot tubs; Trichomoniasis (trich) facts
Trichomoniasis a parasitic infection which infects the urethra (the tube that carries urine out of the body) in men and the vagina and urethra in women. More common in women than men Trichomoniasis infects 7.4 million people each year. The parasite, Trichomonas vaginalis, is sexually transmitted by;
Oral and anal sex
Penis and vaginal intercourse /Symptoms, Trichomoniasis and men
Approximately half of people infected with Trichomoniasis experience no symptoms. Symptoms usually appear 4 to 20 days after infection. Symptoms in men are rarer but can include;
Pale white discharge from the penis
Pain when urinating
Difficulty and discomfort with urination
Discomfort during sex.
Diagnosis and treatment of Trichomoniasis
Diagnosis of Trichomoniasis is made following a swab and urine test. A course of antibiotics will cure Trichomoniasis.
You must avoid all sexual contact until you have been given the all-clear and will need to get your sexual partner or partners checked and treated for this sexually transmitted disease.
Because Trichomoniasis often occurs with other STDs, people are screened for chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis and sometimes for HIV as well.
Lymph nodes in the armpit are at the top of a lymphatic channel that goes all the way down to the fingers. An infection in the fingers, hands or arms can cause swelling in the lymph nodes of the armpit.
BUT AS TO JUST SWOLLEN LYMPH NODES IN ARM PITS best advice is to check it out; HIV infection is a possible as is possible breast cancer etc. NOT TO MEAN ANY OF THESE R THE PROBLEM but checking early is best
DO NOT LISTEN TO THAT LAST POST IF YOU HAVE THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS OTHERS IN THIS THREAD.
INSTEAD, GOOGLE SEARCH: HOT TUB FOLLICULITIS.
READ ABOUT IT. Because there is a lot of clear legitamate information about it on the net. I too spent too long in my friends cloudy hot tub and developed a rash, fever, cough, swollen nipples/armpits. Don't rely on your doctor because 2 others that were in the same hot tub as me went to their doctors and got wrongly diagnosed with chicken pox.
I had a similar situation and became worried after reading some of these responses even though my "bumps" weren't painful or discolored. They did go away after a week without treatment although I did lay off the deodorant for a few days, which seemed to help. This happened after too much time in a hot tub so I definitely will be more cautious next time I get in one. It was a private/clean tub BTW, I was just in there way too long.
Hey same thing happened to 2 of my friends and I after being in a hot tub. 2 males and 1 female. We all had the same symptoms, swollen nipples, look enlarge, blotchy and all of us went to separate doctors.
All 3 of us had different doctor diagnosis and advice...scary huh. Anyways my doctor was the only one who was correct and it IS A BACTERIAL INFECTION, don't worry, it is not serious, just uncomfortable, but get it treated. It was pills he prescribed so some sort of anti biotic and it went away quickly after. My other friend went to emergency to avoid their doctor again (thought hair folicle), got the same pills and it cleared up.
Reason I am on here is to see if anyone had the same problem after swimming in a lake...but it appears I might be the only one with the proper answer about hot tubs, so thought I would help out.
This is a great thread I've also got a hot tub and was in it on Monday night, it's now Thursday so three days later and i've got a sore left nipple with a bit of a lump and the right one feels like it's heading the same way, also noticed small lumps and spots under both arm pits, the interesting thing is previously i've maintained good chlorine and ph levels but Monday night i was in and i actually hadn't re chlorinated, after completely draining and re filling the tub to fit new led lights, i was in for a couple of hours after the tub was left running for two days without chlorine! I won't do that again and i'll be shock treating the tub with Chlorine now and getting some Chlorine tabs back in the dispenser!
well i have the same symptoms it started with a high fever then under my arm started swelling now i woke up this morning n its gone to my nipple again its so strange a friend recently bought a hot tub and these symptoms also started after i had been in it.. wen i got home i felt really crap and under my arm is really sore could it ma be be the chemicals?
