I have been told I am allergic to sulfa drugs since a child. I now wonder if there is a relation between sulfa drugs and the sulfates and sulfites used as wine and food preservatives. If so, could these ingrediants be responsible for a constant, localized on an arm skin itch?

I'm not sure but my husband is allergic to sulfa too.
Do NOT take any decongestants with guaffenesin in them. I'm not sure if that's how to spell it, but it contains sulfa. My husband took some Sudafed one night and we ended up in the ER.

He's never had a problem with drinking wine or any kind of food preservatives, but that doesn't mean it couldn't happen.

Sulfa is different from sulfate/fite
