My girlfriend was recently put on Metformin oral for her blood sugar problems. After a day or two she woke up sick to her stomach.
The rest of the day she threw up. It was so bad it was like she had a bad stomach virus. She could not keep anything down and finally got
dehydrated.

Last night we took her to the emergency room. They gave her some
phenergren and did blood work and the doctor there
said he thought that her LIVER could not take the medicine.
I have never heard of that before!

Is this severe throwing up and dehydration later due to this medicine?
Is the liver not being able to take it really a just analysis?
She is supposed to see her endocrinologist today but I am worrried.
I dunno if the bloodwork said something was wrong with her liver or just that the doctor assumed this.
I don't even know what bloodwork they ran.
My concern is that maybe they should be looking for something else.

Do these things sometimes happen with this medicine and sometimes can the liver really not take it?
I need some help.
Thanks!
