Stretch marks are scars. They will be with you the rest of your life. Over time they will lighten to silvery stripes.

You can use lotions and body butters. Some swear by vitamin E. The truth of the matter is, if you are genetically predisposed to stretch marks you are going to get them regardless of what you do.

You cannot prevent them. Sorry.

I have a stretch mark cream that I swear by. It has minimized the color but they will never go away without a tummy-tuck or laser removal.
The name of the cream is "Dermarest."

Time, actually, will also minimize the color. Mine from forever ago are the same color as my skin, only with a slight sheen that makes them obviously scars.

Yes, they can still pop up on you. Maybe your skin is just extra-stretchy?
haha
I dunno.
I do know that once you are at 36 weeks, the baby gains about a pound per week.
4 pounds in a month can cause stretch marks....

I just saw a commercial for bio oil and I was wondering about that stuff....

Suzy-the cocoa butter is a wonderful thing! I wouldn't say you are being paranoid at all.... my belly was so incredibly itchy, I was using calamine lotion on it twice a day.....

We'll see whenever I get another period.. This Mirena crap is making my uterus go nuts.
Sometimes I bleed, sometimes I don't...
But I love not having to worry about BC....lasts 5 years. Still have 4 to go unless I decide to give Kyleigh a sibling.

Mederma (sp?) will actually help fade them a LOT. Maybe not get rid of them... but my mom had the nasties stretch marks from having 4 kids, and she started using it and they've faded sooooo much.

this is my 3rd pregnancy and I'm 36wks and 3 days... the only stretch marks I have are on my thighs... I always used cocoa butter to prevent them and as much as it itches I don't scratch. I think is depending on your skin and how much attention you give it... Also when I take a shower, after I'm done I take a rag put baby oil and rub my body down focusing more on my belly... then I just rinse it of. I wait like 30min. and then use the cocoa butter. It works for me. I strech mark free on my belly...lol knock on wood!!!!!!

i've had stretch marks since 8th grade for no good reason, and for the past couple months i've been trying this method.
http://www.stretchmarkcure.com/the remed y.htm
it requires you to buy an e-book about how to do it, and then you have to buy the materials needed. basically you buy St. Ive's Apricot scrub, mix it with all natural aloe lotion, and spread it evenly over your stretch marks. use a wooden massage tool (looks like this: http://www.notjustsoapcompany.com/sitebuil der/images/massage_tool2-225x150.jpg ) and begin scrubbing away at it in a fast circular motion for 2 minutes (or longer depending on how big they are). you're supposed to do it 4 times in 5 days twice as the first round, and i forget what else because i lost my password.
that was really extensive, and it's kind of a pain to do and of course i can't guarantee it for anyone. i've gotta say though, it really has made my stretch marks on my breasts become almost completely invisible, and the ones on my thighs have shrunk. if i used it like i was supposed to, maybe they'd be gone!
