Q: Too Soon to Believe I Love Him?

I've been with my boyfriend for a bit more than 7 months. He also happens to be the only bf I've ever had. I love him with all my heart and I know he feels the same, as he makes to tell me this everyday. I remember when we first started going out we were all "I LOVE YOU" all the time and alot of people were like YUCK...one of my friends even told me I souldnt be going around announcing my love to the world because chances were I probably didn't even know what love was. He said I didn't know that I loved him after about two weeks of being with him. The thing is, I've felt that way about him since the day he asked me to be his girlfriend. And I still feel absolute love for him. Several people have asked me if I thought I'd marry him, and I said yes. Everyone is saying that it's foolish of me to say that. They say I probably won't even end up with him, as most first relationships dont last. I know this isn't true. My sister never had a boyfriend until she was in college and she ended up marrying the guy. they've been married many years and have three beautiful children. So is it too soon to believe that I love him, and to assume I'll be with him the rest of my life?

I don't think you are doing anything wrong by thinking you will be together forever. You are optimistic and optimistic people are usually happy people.

And in no way is it too early to be in love, I fell in love with my girlfriend in no time at all and we have a wonderful relationship.

Just go and be happy, ignore the nay sayers and just enjoy what you have. Sure anything could happen and bad things can always be waiting around the corner, but if you sit around worried about what might happen, you don't spend as much time enjoying the good things that are happening.

Too soon to be thinking ahead? Nope not at all. Not too soon to say you love him either. Marriage though? I dunno, I guess i always thought that those kind of things just kind of come up on their on and only to be discussed wiith your guy or close friends.

You don't want to talk about marriage too much and too early, because sometimes it can freak your partner out. At the first 7 months of my relationship if my boyfriend would have started talking about marriage I probably would have soiled myself right then and there.

It puts pressure on a relationship. And most people have a hard enough time with the present than to set high standards for the future. If marriage comes, it comes. Until then just take baby steps and talk about thoes.

No way-it's never too soon to believe you love someone. Love deepens over time and through hardship. And that initial head-over-heels feeling will wear off. That's the thrill of love! What's it like?

well the head over heels feeling sure hasnt worn off for either of us. we're still crazy for eachother =]

as for those that say you would hate to talk of marriage so soon...neither of us seem to have a problem with it.
he was actually the first one to bring it up he said jokingly
"you're last name sucks, i hate it. i'll get you a new one"
that was the first time it was brought up, and i didnt feel pressured at all.
i just felt like "wow he loves me".
it's not like we're setting a date or anything.
but he did say
"it's gonna happen...i know it".
he makes me feel sooo loved <3

My apologies Very Happy

I guess I was thinking of it very negatively. That’s just how my older sister and I always thought of it and we are both still dating our boyfriends from high school so I'll stand by my opinion, however accept that its different for everyone. I live my life one day at a time, so looking so far ahead would make me a bit nervous! But I can see that’s not the case for you.

I wish you luck in your happy future!
