How many of you feel that education is
important? I look at it like this, I
think it is extremly important.
Whenever I get down and think of how caca
t y my life is cuz I aint got no money, I
cant buy all the things I like ect.
It's all becuase I settle for crappy jobs.
Really school is the only way out or to
improve unless you hit the lottery or are
born into a rich family and that isnt the
case for me. Look I gradauated when I
was 17 and here I am gonna be 21 in nov.
I totally blew school off and I think if
id just stayed in, by now id prolly be a
nurse making fat money and be happy.
Now I have to start from the bottom. I
know alot of you dont have money for
school but either do i. There is all
sorts of financial aid to help.
Otherwise there is no way I could ever
afford schooling. Just trying to spread
some inspiration to you all. Here is a
poem my high school teacher gave me and I
dug it out and hung it on my wall so that
whenever I decide I hate mylife so much I
can realize I only have myself to blame.
It's really motivational.
Success
the road to success is not straight..
There is a curve called failure... A
loop called confusion
speed bumps called friends, red lights
called enemies...
Caution, lights called family, you will
have flats called jobs,
but if you have a spare called
determination and an engine
called preservation, insurance called
faith a driver like
yourself will make it to a place called
success!
Def of a job: just over broke.

Your right that's why I decided to go back
last year. I figured I have a child now
and I want to set a good example for him.
I started least year in june. I wanted
to go safe so I went to a 2 yr. College.
I need 60 credits to graduate, it hasn't
even been a year, and I already have 30.
By the end of this semester I will have
39, and I plan on going to summer school
again. Because I now only need 8 more
classes to graduate, i'm going to try and
take 3-4 classes in the summer. That way
when I have the baby in august I could
take it easy, so that when I have to
return in september I could take 2
classes, and depending on how many I take
in the summer i'll have 2-3 classes to
take the following semester. That way I
don't quit school and I could still take
care of my marital duties. But I totally
agree with you, busting your a s s for
minimum wage sucks. Don't feel bad about
being 21, I started college right after
highschool at 17. But my grades were so
low that I got the financial aid taken
away and got kicked out of school. They
said if I wasn't going to take it serious
to let someone else have my spot. I felt
so stupid that I thought I would never go
back. I guess I just wasn't mentally
prepared for the work. Now i'm a honor
student, just got invited to jion the
latin honor society club. I was also
asked to become a student mentor, and
recently got a letter for qualification
for the school's scholorship because of my
grades. I never thought that I could be
more prouder of myself than I am now. It
is never too late to go back. I'll be 26
now on april 15., and their are people
that are older than me in school. I say
go for it, it is never too late to better
yourself. Make yourself, your son, and
family proud of you. But remember if
your heads not in it, it won't work. You
have to seperate your school, work and
family life. You have to find a way to
make it work, and you need family to
support and help you. Good luck, you
won't regret it.

You need a good education here to get a
good job to afford the sky rocketing cost
of houses. I think education's important
to better yourself. Ive been in education
since I was 3! So thats 15years so far
& I have another 3.5 years left. I
know that when I finish my degree I will
get a great job with great money,be able
to marry mike, get a nice car & all the
things I want then have kids.
I do totally agree with jen to though-i
know people who've gone through college
& failed so badly when they could have
spent that time looking for a job

Oh I know school is not for everyone trust
me I hate college but I know it is
something I have to do in order to be more
happy with my life. I am not saying that
anyone is stupid in any way if they dont
not go. Becuase of certain situations, I
know some people cant even attend if they
could afford it. I have to take night
classes because I cant function in the
morning. One semester, when I was like 18
I took a child care course in college from
like 9 am - 1pm and I failed! 1- cuz I
was always so tired that early and 2
college is soooo much harder than high
school. The only reason I even took that
course was cuz I took it for like 2 years
in high school so I thought it would be a
breeze but I was wrong. All I wanted to
do was spread some light because I know
alot of us are struggling. I am
stuggling very much. I dont even have
enough money sometime to put gas in my car
and I have to borrow from people or enough
money to buy milk. Thats why I ask the
govt for help so I can get my tail in
school to better my life and I dont want
my child to hate me when he grows older
like I did with my parents cuz I grew up
poor and my fam was screwed up cuz of it.
I just think positive and know that
nothing is impossible. My bf had to had
heart surgery when he was 16 because he
had like an extra valve or somethin and we
found out that his surgeon/cardiologist
was a man who used to be a bum on the
streets addictied to heroin! See how
amazing it is so see someone turn their
life around? Anyone can do it. ~ erica.
