Could This Be Prostatitis?

I've been having to go to the bathroom a lot more recently. Sometimes I feel like I have to go, and I barely do. I've started having some very slight pain or maybe discomfort around the scrotum or groin. It's hard to pinpoint it. My back and lower abdomen hurt at times. I saw my doctor and had a urine test which showed nothing. He then examined my back and abdomen, and there was no pain when he tapped those areas. It's more of a random pain. He checked out my testicles, said everything was normal there besides some swelling above them. I think it's called varicocele and that's common and shouldn't cause me problems besides infertility, so he says. Later that day, my back was hurting and I started running a very low fever and felt hot, so I ended up at the ER. I was mostly concerned something was wrong with a kidney. They did another urine test and a CT scan to check for kidney stones. Kidney was normal, as well as my liver. So basically, everything checked out and no one has explained to me why this happened.
I have had problems with anxiety most of my life, and didn't know if maybe I just made a big deal of nothing, or if I should get my prostate checked. I'm only 17, so I thought prostate problems would be unlikely. However, prostatitis seems to affect people in my age range commonly. Would I need to have a rectal exam to know this, or would a urinalysis show that as well? I've been drinking much more water, trying to make sure I'm getting enough like my doctor said, and I feel better kinda. But it's not completely gone and I don't want to go untreated if there's something being missed..

Prostatitis does not affect people in your age group often. If you want a rectal exam then ask for one. I don't know what else to say. Your symptoms suggest something is wrong yet the doctors don't find anything.
