Hey everyone
I was on Lutera for about 12 days, I stopped because the side effects - migraines, nausea- werent worth it for me and I wasnt willing to wait for them to go away. I also started seeing spots (that was the last straw) and my Dr told me to stop taking them if that happened.

I've been off of them for about 10 days and I've had 2 migraines, and a dull headache that has lasted about 7 days straight. I also began vomiting and having diarrhea all of last night. I don't know if this is due to not taking the pill or if its something else.

Ive already had my withdrawal "period" it ended about 3 days ago. I'm going to the Dr. in a couple of day, but I was just curious to see if all of these symptoms are caused by not taking the pill or if they're something else.

Anyone else had or heard of this happening when one stops taking the pill?

Thanks for your input!

Yikes!!

Some doctors won't prescribe combined hormone birth control to women who get migraines with visual auras (seeing spots) because it increases your risk for blood clots and stroke. Plus, for some women, estrogen (going on or off of it) causes an increase in migraines. If this is the case, you really shouldn't be on it. I'd see the doctor- things like seeing spots are scary and you need to make sure there's nothing going on. You could also still have a migraine from going off of it, just a low-grade one. That would explain your headache and vomiting and diarrhea.

Talk to your doctor about it. Like I said, some doctors think it's an issue and some don't. My docs won't let me on estrogen because of my migraines and the risk of stroke. (Not that I think you had a stroke) But it's something you should be aware of.

There are other options like mini pills, the shot, iud's, or (I think) implanon. But definitely talk to your doc.
