Very high. You pretty much just had completely unprotected sex.

I know...I was really irresponsible about it, and I don't really know if I was ovulating or not. Does that make a difference??

You COULD have ovulated, and that's why you could be pregnant.

Yes because after two weeks of being off birth control your cycle was pretty much on it's own. You can still take plan b within 5 days of unprotected sex, so if there's still time, I'd suggest getting some. If you are over 18 you get buy it from any pharmacy. If you are under 18 you will need a prescription. If you can't get in to see a doc about it, a planned parenthood will give it to regardless of age.

It's been more than 5 days so I know the Plan B is out of the question. I dont track my periods so I dont know when my next one is due. When is the soonest I should take a test? And should I get a blood test and just skip the at home test??

See Dr
You should be on bc pills for atleast a month before they are fully effective. And not to scare you but 10-to14 days into the pack is when ovulation usually occurs!! Good luck!! Ill keep myfingers crossed x

Find a Clinic
You could go to a clinic where they test for free then you wouldn't have to pay out of pocket and they could probably talk to you with much more knowledge about your situation!!

This is incorrect. Pills are effective in most situations after only a week. Also, when you are on the pills, you don't ovulate, so 10-14 days into the pack, nothing happens.

However, after two weeks of no pills, you certainly might ovulate.

My fingers are crossed too!

You'll have to read on the pregnancy test to see when it will be effective. Probably two to three weeks after you had sex will be good.

Work In Dr Office
IT IS TRUE THAT YOU NEED TO BE ON PILLS FOR ONE MONTH FOR FULL EFFECTIVENESS!! I work in a dr's office we have 10 drs here and all agree you need to be on pills for one month, your risks of being pg are higher if not!!

10 doctors here? Where is here? What kind of doctors office do you work in??

I'm not going to argue with you. All of the instructions on birth control pills say a week. All my doctors have said a week. All the other ladies on this forum say a week.

But we don't need to carry on this argument further.

Oh Mangione- most women don't feel pain when they ovulate, but some do. It's possible that it was, or possible that you were just freaking out!

From planned parenthood-

"If you start the combination pill within five days after the start of your period, take the first active pill of the first pack. You will not need to use a back up method of birth control. You are protected against pregnancy immediately.

If you start the combination pill at any other time during your menstrual cycle, take the first active pill of the first pack. Use another method of birth control if you have vaginal intercourse during the first week of combination pill use — protection will begin after seven days.

You may start the progestin-only pill at any time. Use another method of birth control if you have vaginal intercourse during the first 48 hours of progestin-pill use — protection will begin after two days."

Wait?? I'm confused...it is or isn't effective? I guess it doesn't much matter because I missed 2 complete weeks and then waited for a Sunday start, so I wasn't protected at all...and I think Im going to wait about 2 or 3 weeks to take a test becuase it has only been a week. But the pain was before I had the unprotected sex but didn't pay much attention until now and figured that I must have been ovulating. I wonder if I should just go to my doctor or get an at-home test, because sometimes those aren't reliable. Thanks for everyone's advice, though. I guess it's just a waiting game now...

Birth control as a rule is NOT effective in the first week. You only have to wait one week for it to protect you.

The only exception to this is if you take it within the first five days of your period.
