How Come My Anxiety/panic Attacks Only Happen At Home? Posted: 10-19-07 22:05pm
I work in retail (I work at Best Buy) and
when i'm at work everything is fine no
anxiety or panic problems when dealing
with customers, but when i come home and
sit down to try and relax after a long
days work it hits me,the anxiety starts to
build and i can feel an attack building
up.I am OK when i'm working but i just
can't seem to relax at home,WHY? Why can't
i just relax,i used to be able to before
and it's starting to upset me because i
can't keep moving 24/7 i would love to be
able to relax at home..
is there anything triggering at home?
think carefully. what makes u anxious at
home? chores? or you might just enjoy
working more than going home? There must
be stressors leading to your anxiety
attacks. try to sit down and validate your
feelings and review ur anxiety attack
after u have calmed down from an attack.
it helps me realize my trigger and
eventually work towards the problem.
good luck. feel free to email.

While you are at work you are busy and
consintrating on you job and dealing with
customers. When you are home, your mind
has settled down and it gives it a chance
to react to the anxiety that might build
up during the day. Just like the mind can
not fell two different pains at once. This
is a fact. Just take this for instance.
When I use to work family practice and had
in infant that need an injection, what I
would do with the parents consent is give
the baby or toddler a nice sturn smack
where I was going to give the shot. You
give the slap and the emmediatly give the
injection in that same place. Well the
child can only feel the slap and the shot
goes unfelt because the mind is still in
control of the slap. When you are working,
you mind is in control of you work duties
in the same respect. Then you get home and
it's like the mind is saying "OMG! I have
problems that I need to solve or what is
going to happen now or tomorrow. That is
why "Night Anxiety" is so prevlient.
rosalee is also right. If you have
problems at home of any kind that would
trigger off anxiety attack that you would
not have being away from home.

You have almost solved you very own
problem away from school and when you get
home. You down time at home would fit into
the same categorie Alex. You mentioned in
one of your posts awhile back that you
felt pretty good at school and it was not
untill you got home that you felt those
symptoms. You just answered you own
question if you were going to say the same
thing. I still want you stomach looked
into. Something esle is going on as I said
in your thread.
