Breast soreness and enlargement can be a side effect of birth control.

When i first started the patch, my breasts became enlarged, but they were also very sore. A few months later i developed blood clots because of it... so look out for that.

Side effects Otho evra
Dear all
I used otrho evra for three and a half years and I used to love it, my boobs got bigger and only sensitive one week a month, but little by little I gained weight ( that didn't come off with dieting and exercise) and got breaktrough bleeding every month after the second patch, my gynecologist and I thought they were yeast infections and treated accordingly, then I started to have mood swings and a slow growing depression then I lost my libido completely and got severe migraines. Then on one occassion the patch came off after extreme hot weather and I felt strange , like I was pregnant, it turns out that I had ovarian cysts, I got treatment for that, and got back to the patch, I experienced swollen and painful legs on long flights and now I have high blood pressure and a heart condition, plus a severe depression that can be related to the high estrogen delivered by the patch. Beware, the side effects can start almost imperceptibly, and you can end up like me no job no home no boyfriend, read up on the patch there are many lawsuits for blood clots and deaths of people.
Ask your doctor and do not use it if you had depression, heart problems, smoke or are over 35yrs plus beware for the slow changes over the years.

Ortha Evra
I was on the patch from 18-19, and I thought it was great until I began experiencing breast tenderness too, and I had really bad mood swings. I would cry inexplicably, and felt my stomach - the cramps were severe during my period. A friend in my first year of university told me that CTV reported blood clots related to the patch, and I switched to Alesse afterwards. The dose of estrogen caused bad mood swings, and for anyone who wants to go on birth control - I'd recommend Yasmin or another means instead of Evra. It's also important to not do what I did, which was go on the patch for a month or two, then stop for a month or two, then go back on. The levels of estrogen need to get used to your body, and if you're going on and off the pill, the side effects will worsen and it will feel like a depression.
Best thing you can do is to talk to a doctor about it, and weigh your options. Also, condoms are always a safe bet! Wrap it up Wink

The same thing happened to me. I was on Ortho-evra patch and my breast were really swollen and tender a lot. Then I started to have very severe migrains and I had severe pain in my calves and the back of my legs. My doctor immediately switched me to birth control pills. I stopped and switched to ortho-tricyclen low and I stopped having the side effects. I also do think Yasmin is good because it decreases breast tenderness, especailly before your cycle begins- at least that's what my doctor told me.
