I think that's kind of weird, I know I don't go pee at the same time every day...

I agree weird it is but it's the "latest trend" supppose to make things easier. LOL I can and am working with the baby sign language I can even handle some of the other new ides just I have a real problem with going diaperless esp. if we're going for a walk around the block, out at the park or for a car ride. I do a lot of frenquent diaper changes as it is and a lot of laundry now but that'd be me changing her outfit every hour or so if she doesn't make it.

I was potty trained when I was ready. This happened to be age 5... A little odler than usual! I was still in safety panties or whatever they were called back then.

I saw a neighbor boy going to pre-school and wanted to go too and my mom said I couldn't, unless I could wear big-girl panties and go in the toilet. I was lazy, what can I say!? But once I had an outside reason to do it, I did it instantly.

I'm weird like that. I don't often do something just for the hell of it. I need a reason. Outside pressure.

My brother was funny. He was around 3 years old and we moved to a new apartment. My mom did this:

Mom: "George, there are no diapers in this house."
George: "Nooo?"
Mom: "Nope, so you'll have to go potty like a big boy."
George: "Oh, okay!"

And he did! lol!! EVERY child is different. Night-time training is hard, too. I was wetting the bed till I was 6 or 7, and finally a book helped me at last.

I talked about it to my mom recently, because what I remember is the book telling me to have an alarm (like a fire truck) go off in my head at night when I had to pee. My mom says that the book actually guided parents to SET an alarm for the child initially, to wake them up halfway through the night to pee. Eventually, the alarm was weaned away and the child simply did it automatically. I can only imagine how many weeks/months it took to train that behavior O.o I still do it, too, especially if I go to sleep early in the night like before midnight and sleep a full 10 hours. I pop awake halfway through the night, and I need to pee.

Oh no I meant that it was on the news and I had read some online stuff about it. The news anchor had about the same reaction as us as the uhhh that's nuts. They actually had 1 ped doc going for it and 1 ped doc saying they'll do it in their own time. My nephew is 3 and is potty trained my friends son was potty trained at 2 years old and then I had a friend whos daughter started to potty train and 14 months but that was because the daughter was at the store with her one day and said "mommy potty" and pointed to the potty.

Just to clarify matters a bit, they are not potty-training their infants.

It is called Elimination Communication (EC). The parent (mostly mother) learns to read her baby's body language to anticipate when the child needs to eliminate, and provides an appropriate (and comfortable) place to do so. Cues might be their attention/eyes being drawn away or scrunching their face a certain way. "Accidents" are never punished. Some EC parents use diapers in conjunction with EC-ing (especially good if using cloth diapers because it means fewer poopy diapers).

It does sound fascinating and good for both baby and mom, but I personally don't think I could handle doing it full-time (or without diaper backup) because of the inevitable daily clean-ups.

That wouldn't work for us - at least not in the immediate future. My daughter almost always pees as soon as her diaper comes off. It's almost like she feels the air hit her down below and thinks "Wow, that's nice. I think I might have a tinkle to celebrate!"

lol Aya our lil one is like that too...I tell ya they say only boys squirt...ya wanna bet? lol she's got better aim then most boys do.

I do know a few girls that are doing this method of potty training.. it has been working for them. They 'wear' their babies so they can 'get in tune with their bodies... and know when they are gonna go. But i let my children train when they were ready. It was less stressful to me...
It is wierd.... but hey, to each their own.
I personally will always wait till my kids are ready... I over the summer pottytrained my littlest one... and it took only 2 weeks before he was totally trained (both peeing and pooing) ... He was soo ready.
