Could It Be An Early Sign of a Miscarriage?

I had my first ob-gyn appointment yesterday(mar-30) and after the sonogram the baby showed that it did not yet have a heartbeat and that the size of the embryo was approximately 6 weeks. The mid wife stated that the yolk sack looked healthy and their was no problem with my uterus. My question and concern is that I know for a fact that the beginning of my last cycle was feb 1st. According to that, I should be 8 weeks pregnant. I am worried that because their is no heartbeat that the fetus is dead and just has not miscarried. I have had no bleeding, cramping, or discharge. Am I worrying about nothing or do I have a reason to be concerned? The office re-scheduled me to come back in a week to meet with the doctor.

This is the exact problem that I am currently having right now. My doctor is in a hurry to give me a d&c but when I went to have a second opinion that doctor stated to me that everything was fine. My blood levels was very high indicating that the baby was growing. I'm in my 12th week now and my ob stated that the baby is the size of a 9th week. She gave me options such as your miscarrage will happened within a few weeks. It havent happened yet and it's been 3weeks later going on four. I had no signs of a miscarrage, (cramping, bleeding, etc, etc, etc, nothing all i'm doing now is waiting and hoping that if the child is dead as they prusumed, i'm hoping that I will do as it suppose to do. But, since it had not happened yet i'm just waiting, hoping for a miracle.
