I am 43, sexually active. I started my period today, two weeks late. It was very heavy. Then this stabbing pain in my left side, near my ovaries, much worse than cramps. The pain was so bad I doubled over and almost fell down. It brought me to tears and I have had 4 children natural and the pain was almost unbearable. I have take some OTC pain medication and the pain isnt as bad but it still hurts

You can go to a doctor for this, and I'd advise you do. Severe pain is not normal.
