Laying down / sleeping = Vertigo spins, flashes of white light followed by an extreme high sensitivity to light. Blackness in the field of vision and blinking squares and muffled hearing. THe muffled hearing is always associated with a fullness of the ear. RIght now it feels like there's an object in my ear, and the tinnitus right now isn't too loud but its a radio-static type of sound and is everchanging. Neck is so stiff and sore, i can barely move. It feels like any minute im going to experience more episodes of deafness and dizziness. Sometimes my eyes naturally close themselves when im not even tired. I end up staying up 20-30 hours sometimes because symptoms restrict me from resting. Today i experience more hallucinations, i tried listening to music and i heard the song quietly repeat itself 5-6 times, and each time got faster and faster. I was told a musical hallucination is a random signal discharged by the brain and interpretted by the auditorial cortex. With that being said, i can "stop" the hallucination dead in its tracks by listening to a louder sound by a television or what i do is simply knock on the wall and put my ear near it. As long as the sound is real and exerts a soundwave my brain can interpret it and supercede the fake hallucination sound.

Symptoms are getting really bad, over the course of half a year to 1 year IT HAS NEVER been as BAD as it is right at this instant. I can't move my neck, tinnitus gets really loud, (as loud as an airplane, and its a high pitched piercing sound) this lasts up to 2-3 minutes straight, and is always followed by episodic periods of deafness / hearing loss. The list goes on and on... (symptoms are continuous without break)

Point is, a lot of people have had success using a muscle relaxer called
Flexeril. Only probably this drug is extraordinarily dangerous,

Side-Effects Temporary to Permanent Quote:

fast, pounding, or uneven heartbeats;

chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general ill feeling;

sudden numbness or weakness, especially on one side of the body;

sudden headache, confusion, problems with vision, speech, or balance;

feeling light-headed, fainting;

confusion, weakness, lack of coordination;

nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes);

seizure (convulsions);

unusual thoughts or behavior, hallucinations (seeing things); or

easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness.

Continue using Flexeril and talk with your doctor if you have any of these less serious side effects:

dry mouth, increased thirst;

blurred vision;

drowsiness, dizziness, tired feeling;

feeling nervous or irritable;

heartburn, loss of appetite, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting;

muscle weakness;

diarrhea, constipation, gas; or

sore throat, cold symptoms.

End Quote.

I'm putting emphasis on the side effect from FLEXERIL which entitles "HALLUCINATIONS, and UNUSUAL Behaviour" It causes psychosis and vision problems.

Is this a safe drug? should I risk using it to reduce my suffering??

Hey Xanthuss
Hi there, I read your posts and first have to say that I can really empathize with you.
I have a TMJd due to a bad bite that was created by my ex-fool dentist. I also have tinnitus mostly in the left ear, as well as a clicking of that left TM joint. I went to an ENT and he prescribed 0.5mg of Xanax which cut down the noise by about half. Have you tried that? I also find that if I stabilize my jaw by aligning the front teeth, that it relieves pressure on that joint and the next day the Tin isn't as loud.

When I first got it back in August it was devastating and I got really depressed but when I found out why I have Tinnitus I got me a medical malpractice Lawyer. I too have trouble sleeping and just want to say that your not alone.
I'm male 46 yrs and have never been in bad health.
Please hang in there and pray to Saint Jude. It sounds a little strange but he has answered some of my prayers. Anyway hang in there and don't do anything silly ; it's always darkest before dawn.
Adam

I'm experiencing the exact same problems right now... When it first started 3 years ago, the doctor's initial "diagnosis" is that I was crazy--more or less. Finally, he got fed up with me and sent me to an ENT, which he should have done in the first place. The ENT immediately knew I had TMJ.... Now what to do. He just told me what I have, but not what to do about it really.

Have you found any relief, Xan?
