Ok, so I have degenerative disc disease (who doesn't?) The two discs most affected are the bottom two. The bottom one is bulging and is somehow compromising my sciatic nerve.

I told my neurosurgeon at our first meeting that I was not interested in surgery. He scheduled me for an EMG because my ankle reflex was not good and a Myelogram. My EMG was normal.

I go back to the doctor in two days. I suspect with the tests he ordered that he is trying to put together a case to make to me for surgery. Before I make any decisions I want to know what others think. You guys have been through this. I have never had back surgery. I hear only horror stories. I have never heard of anyone having back surgery where they considered it successful.

What do you guys think?

I could give you a long list of procedures and back pain options, but this forum on laser surgery has many people commenting for an overall picture. There are also people who had successful back surgery who tell you about it.
