It can take away your period but not always, though I do believe it is a very common side effect.

I haven't experienced anything horrible, and I've been on it since Friday the 12th of October. That's only 6 days but still! I've not had any bad side effects yet.

The depo shot sometimes makes you gain weight but for only certain people I think but the stats is 70% of women using depo provera gain weight. Half of the women gain 5 pounds in one year. Many gain 10. But yes on depo you dont have periods.

if im on the shot for that long then would it make getting pregnant harder?

It depends on how long you are on it. If you're only doing it short term (around 3 years) then I believe it can be gone fairly quickly and/or up to a year. For short term use there normally isn't an issue with conceiving.

I was on it for about 2 years and ended up getting pregnant on another bc about 2 months later. I loved being on it after having my kids. I'm hoping after I get my body leveled out again I can go back on! (I was on another form and am having problems) Anyways.... I only had a little weight gain but not sure if that is from having the kids or the shot. And I had no problems until the end of about 3 years then I had some headaches and nausea but my dr said I just needed to change my bc for a little while. I loved it and hope it goes well for anyone trying it!

I was on the depo for 1 years. Around the time of my 1 year mark I started feeling dizzy I gained like 20 pounds within that year, feeling nausea. I am never getting on the depo again!! I loved the whole thing about not having a period and now i'm ttc and it's hard. I been off of it for almost a year and I had started taking the pill and been off of it for 6 months. Good luck chick!

No problem I hope it goes well. I changed from the depo to a pill because I heard all the horror stories but I didn't have any problems. I got pregnant shortly after switching. Oh well I love that we had my son! I'm really wanting to get back on! I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well!
